My baby is starting to get a bit of a misshapen head, he favours lying on his right side and today I noticed it’s changing the shape of his head. Not flat on the back but flatter on one side. I’ve done some googling and plan on taking him to the GP for advice but I feel like a failure, like I’ve done something wrong. He genuinely isn’t left lying down for that long apart from at bed time… he tends to contact nap a lot in the day so I’m not sure how it’s happened.
Logically I know it’s very common and often corrects itself, but I just feel so bad, like it’s my fault. I guess I’m just looking for a bit of advice and/or reassurance 😣

Hello mama :)
If your little one prefers one side to another when sleeping, I would suggest you to go to an osteopath specialist in babies! My little sister had this and my baby also. I have bring him to the osteopath and now he sleeps on both sides! xx

When he falls asleep on his right side turn him over to the left side. What I also noticed with my boy is he likes to sleep facing me so I just popped him “upside down” in his cot and he now lays on his left side and I just alternate. So one night his face is in line with mine and the next his head is facing towards my feet if that makes sense
I kept trying this last night but within a couple of minutes he moved himself back to the right every time 😣
I might try the upside down technique though and see if it’s because he wants to face me, thank you!

No problem. I’ve also heard some mums recommend the pillows that you can get on Amazon for like £26 to stop their head flattening. But if all else fails maybe try the osteopath like suggested above x

Hey! My LO had the same and I took him to the Gp yesterday and they said that after a year it will correct it’s self but she recommended lots of tummy time and we put a pillow down last night at night and it did help as he stayed more central x
