Runners?

Hello ladies! I am just over 1 month pp and will be getting back into exercising. Pre-pregnancy I worked out all the time but mainly strength and bike cardio. I have decided one of my new goals will be to run a marathon. I’m Disney obsessed and want to try the RunDisney marathon specifically. Any tips for new runners/people that hate running? Any running gear you recommend? Any training programs? Thank you!! ❤️

You need to wait until you're 12 weeks postpartum to start running again. And as frustrating as it is you need to start slow. I ran a lot pre pregnancy and during, but still gave myself those 12 weeks rest and then started back with the couch to 5k app.

any other tips for getting back to running? I haven’t run since about 28 weeks pregnant because after awhile it was hurting my pelvis. I’m 10 weeks pp and anxious to get back to it.

honestly the couch to 5k app really eases you into it. It starts with a mixture of running and walking and gradually builds up the running. It is frustrating if you've run lots before, but it forces you to take it slow which helps to avoid prolapse and other injuries

I use the app run with Hal!! I ran a marathon using the app. Go slow, pace yourself, take the rest days. Start with small goals. Pick a 5K first that’s a few months from now, then try a half marathon. Manage your expectations is super important for not being discouraged! Also ask your doctor before you start. Starting too soon is very bad can lead to more problems in the future like peeing when you run etc.

Also focus on strength training in addition to running. Strengthening your core is actually vital to running long distances. Your body is going to be upright running for 5+ hrs during a marathon, you need strength to just stay up like that! In addition focus on strengthening hips, legs etc. barre classes were great for that for me. But mostly I followed run with Hal for my marathon and half marathons.

Agree with waiting until AT LEAST 12 weeks postpartum as recommended by my pelvic floor PT. Don’t want to increase chances of things like prolapse!!

I reintroduced running with the couch to 5k app too. It was a great way to build up strength and stamina.
After I reached 5k, I pushed myself too hard on a run and injured my back, so seriously do take it slow and steady!

To get back into running, you first need to make sure your pelvic floor muscles are fully recovered and strong enough .. this can’t happen after only one month. Focus on breathwork and minimal core work to do so .. if you do not take these precautions, you can risk developing organ prolapse.

I hated running. I started walking. During my walks u would add small jogs in an out and eventually found myself being able to jog for longer periods of time, and slowly increased my goal. It's been almost 2 years and I love it! I ran my first 5k race of the year this past Saturday and would love to do a Disney race too!

Dads app!

I have been using this app for the last 6 months ish and found it brilliant for advice and making friends. My partner though doesn’t have any male friends who are dads and I was wondering if anybody knows of anything similar to this app that he could use to find some other dads local to us, to chat to/get advice/make friends etc. anyone any ideas? ☺️
