Pre eclampsia and hellp syndrome

Hi all, I'm new to this app but not a first time mum...i have some questions I feel like can only be answered by other mums that have had similar experience to mine...

So I have a 6 year old boy, he was born prem at 32 weeks due to pre eclampsia and hellp syndrome.. I'm currently 26+3 with another boy and so far so good.. no signs

However with my first I didn't start displaying until 27 hospitalised from 29 weeks and now that is right round the corner and I'm petrified of it creeping in, I'm constantly checking for signs and symptoms of it and trying to stop myself from spiralling on a daily. Sometimes I feel like I don't want to even move from my bed because I don't want anything to go wrong like I don't want to wake up one morning and my feet be swollen or my hands. And I know it probably sounds like I'm crazy and that I'm just blabbering on so I guess my question is has anyone else had these conditions in a first pregnancy and made it full term with a second? Had a natural birth? I don't plan on having anymore babies after this one so I want to experience as much as I can that I missed out on with my first so any help advice or anything else would be much appreciated

Hey! So this isn’t speaking from my own personal experience however I was born premature also at 32 weeks! My mum had preeclampsia and so I had to be delivered early. 15 years later she got pregnant with my sister and she did develop preeclampsia again but she didn’t get it until 37 weeks with her. She did still have to have a C section but due to her being breach! I’m sorry I have no advice of my own to give you or any personal experience but speaking from my mums! I can say that try to he hopefully that you don’t get it at all and it’s not to say itll come the same time if you do get it again. Easier said than done but try to be positive as this is a completely different pregnancy. I’m sorry I can’t be much help❤️

It is helpful to know she made it up to 37 weeks does give some comfort, I think that's what I'm most afraid of most is the prem baby, my first we didn't take home till he was 6 weeks old so I just feel like I was robbed of those new born snuggles at home you know? I'm sure your mum would probably of felt the same way.. it was also a horrible thing to go through we nearly lost him at the beginning and I'm just fearful of going through it again.. but thankyou for your help xx

I’m sorry I can’t be of any more help! But every pregnancy is different. Were you prescribed aspirin by your midwife to try prevent it?? I can understand why you felt robbed of those 6 weeks but positive thoughts🫶🏻🫶🏻xx

Hey. I had pre eclampsia first time round I started developing symptoms around 23 weeks but it didn't come on properly I til 37 and I had to be induced immediately.

I'm being more closely monitored this time and taking asprin and it deffo seems to be helping overall. I've had a couple of protein episodes but it has gone away over 48 hours so they aren't too worried. Currently at 23 weeks again but they say there's 0 signs of it currently whereas last time I had quite a few at this point

@Louise yeah I've had a couple of protein traces and high BP episodes but nothing that's lasted so far with my first I displayed at 27 weeks with slight increased BP and traces, 2 weeks later it was full blown.. with this one at 26 weeks so far nothing, I've been taking aspirin from 12 weeks but have also had hypermesis gravidarum this pregnancy so hasn't been smooth sailing keeping tablets in.. I've just hit 27 weeks and have midwife and consultant in 2 weeks I'm just extremely nervous I think now we're at the mark I got it before I'm just so worried of it happening again xx

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

At this point I’m not enjoying motherhood

My 22 month old is horrendous at the moment🫣 biting, hitting, pushing, pulling and shoving not only adults but children he also wants what other children have and will just snatch it away from them.

We repeat ‘nice hands’ ‘be gentle’ ‘let’s share’ etc

But how do I make him understand what he’s doing isn’t very nice? At the end of the day I feel like I’ve just been saying his name all day and nothing else.

What can I do?

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?
