Hi, I might be paranoid but since I had my 12 weeks scan couple of days ago I can stop staring at the picture thinking there’s something wrong on the nape. I’m terrified of the idea of having a baby with deformities or spina bifida and I can’t stop crying.

Scan pics are notoriously blurry and deformed, it’s not like taking a picture with a regular camera… Try and take a deep breath and stay positive. You can go for an early anatomy scan privately as early as 16w, that’s what I did for extra peace of mind. I’m sure your bubs is totally fine and healthy. xx

Hey, I’m not due till aug 24 but this just came up on my for you page. I’ve just looked back at my 12 week scan with my first baby and the shape of hers looks exactly the same! I’m wondering if maybe it’s just the angles or the way they’re not fully developed yet. I’m not sure but nothing was ever pointed out about it and they do check things like that and my daughter was born perfectly fine. I’m sure they would have mentioned it if there was anything they were concerned about but I’m sure you can always ask them at your next scan if you’re concerned or maybe mention it to your midwife for some reassurance?

If there was something they saw that was wrong they would have flagged it on your notes or done more tests,, honestly try not to worry x

The kiddos move around so much on the scans the pictures come out crazy they can tell spina bifida really easily and they urgently let you know something is wrong they would have told you plus the kiddos don't get correct baby proportions right away they grow into it she's fine

My 12 week scan picture is missing the whole middle section of the baby's body. It literally has a head and legs and no middle bit. I questioned whether it was actually a kid in there at one point. They couldn't measure the neck because it was moving so much so I had to have a quad test yesterday for blood tests. None of those tests are accurate anyway so maybe mention your worry and hopefully they'll be able to reassure you!

You have your yellow notes. In the scan notes, it tells you the measurement. You can then google the measurements and you'll have a small answer
