Is there a 12 mo regression?!?!

Mamas! SOS. Is there a regression at 12 months?
My little guy used to sleep 7pm-6pm. He’s been waking around 3am every day. First night I just brought to bed to get sleep, now I’ve sort of let him cry it out a bit after checking in on him.

But he’s been crying for a while. It’s been on average like 30 minutes or just sitting up crying. I’m at my wits end because I don’t want to give in and let him get in the habit of waking at that time and knowing he’s gonna come to bed.

Anyone else experience this? Anyone else letting them cry it out a bit? Anyone else have success stories that this will end?

xx

Does he take one nap or two naps a day? My son was doing that, but waking up at 3456 and was fighting his second nap and so I just kept slowly pushing back his first nap and now he sleeps through the night.

And I normally do let him cry it out some but I personally don’t do more than 10 minutes because my son continues to get worse after 10 minutes and it’s even harder to calm him down but sometimes they also just miss you. So personally, I think 30 minutes is way too long because at that point you’re not getting any sleep either but to answer your first question I do think there is a 12 month sleep regression especially if they’re trying to figure out how to walk, or other skills
Sorry, I have to use voice text because I cut my thumb open lol

Idk if there’s a sleep regression at 12 months but my daughter has also been waking up the last two weeks when she used to sleep through the night. I think part of it is that she has a few teeth coming in right now. But maybe she does need to go down to one nap like suggested

We are going through the same thing going on 2+ weeks now. Used to sleep through the night and now wakes up 2-4 times a night and won't go back to sleep without being held. Sorry for your struggles, but it's also good to know it's not just us. Praying it goes back to normal soon 🙏

Yes I am going through it rn too. He used to sleep through the night 8-8 and now he's waking up at 3am screaming, standing. I've had to resort to just letting him cry it out because every time me or his father go in there he gets happy and just wants to play no matter how much you rock and soothe him. Last night he only cried for about 30 minutes before going back to sleep so I think it's getting better now that we aren't "entertaining" him

that’s same for us! He is like wide awake and won’t sleep. It’s unusual for him. And if my husband goes in it’s worse. So we will let
Him go about 30 minutes last night and he ended up knocking out until his usual wake time.. I don’t like
To ignore him, but when we go in it feels unproductive and I fear he Weill get dependent on us going in and either nursing him or entertaining him.

We are going through the same. My son literally won't sleep if he sees or hears us so we have to just let him cry when he wakes up. We basically got no sleep last night because he wanted to play.

Yes it is definitely hard to just let them cry but at the end of the day he needs sleep and to learn that 3am is not playtime and Mommy and Daddy are not going to come play with you in the middle of the night.

It’s a phase. We went through it too. if his crib/bed is safe then turn off the monitor and let him self soothe. My daughter went through this, still does on occasion, but we powered through.

definitely agree and praying it’s a phase. After crying for 30 mins (husband checked once) he knocked out and slept until his normal wake. My husband is really good about telling me to just shut off the monitor and not work myself up more by watching him cry. We share a wall so we hear it nice and clear lol

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅
