Unless it is absolutely 100% medically needed and no other option, then I’m a firm no.

Avatar

Be careful... There will be multiple people along in a second to tell you it's mutilation and tell you how horrible you are for even considering it 🙄 I decided to do it because it's just normal for the men in my family, it's healthier and his dad got his done as an adult and it was way worse for him. He said he wished he got it done when he was a baby, so we decided to go ahead and do it with our son.

Avatar

I’m a firm no as well but my boyfriend is a firm yes only because he’s circumcised, so we’re still trying to figure it out

Avatar

i got my son circumcised. no issues and he healed quick.
it has health benefits. don’t let people with crazy opinions try to guilt you. sometimes as uncircumcised boys grow up, their foreskin is too tight to retract or it becomes adhered to the tip of the penis and end up needing the surgery anyways.

Avatar

My son was circumcised at 6 months due to a medical issue that prevented him from getting it done at birth. I'm going to be honest. It was the best thing I did. He healed quickly and I have noticed that he doesn't have lingering pee stuck or poop stuck when I change him now. The skin doesn't retract so it was hard to clean at times.

Avatar

I did not get my son circumcised just because personally I didn’t feel it was necessary. He is just a perfect little angel and it broke my heart thinking about altering him just because of aesthetics. We’ve had 0 problems out of it. And the more I read into it the more I was like no way 😳 to each their own tho, I definately recommend doing some research on the topic and then going from there 😊 you’re always gonna read different opinions from people. Just go with you think is right

Avatar

Personally, I left it up to my husband, since he has a penis and I don't 😅 I figured he'd have an opinion either way, and surprisingly he choose to circumcise (whereas he isn't). He did some research before deciding, as well as going on his own experience, not having been circumcised. He said it's much easier to clean.

Avatar

I got my son circumcised. It was important to my significant other that he be circumcised.
It happened right in the hospital when he was born and I'm happy we got it done.

Avatar

I read cribsheet. It gave the pros and cons of both based on data. After reading about possible complications, we opted for it. Only issue we had was my little had some frog legs and kicked off thr plastibell and it bled a little.

Avatar

I left the decision up to my bf because he is familiar with the area and issues it might have, etc. He said it would be easier to keep clean and avoid infections from the start. (He got it in the hospital on the 3rd day.) My boy wasn’t uncomfortable, in pain or anything, it also healed within like a week.

Avatar

If there's no religious reasons to do it, its a firm no. It is painful, unnecessary, and has no benefits. If the foreskin was not supposed to be there, boys would not be born with it. It is genital mutilation.

Avatar

Firm no as well. Its just not done over here unless for medical or religious reasons (as far as I'm aware!). I don't know a single person who's been circumcised and only one person who's struggled with tight foreskin, and even with him, he had a quick procedure at the Dr's (not a circumcision still) and he's fine. Walked a little funky out of the Dr's office apparently but was fine again when he got home. As long as you (or your partner) can teach your LO how to clean properly, I see no real reason tbh!

Avatar

Do the research before you decide. There's a show that was on Netflix called American circumcision and a website called whole child that has some really great material.

Avatar

Should say as well, the guy who had issues was 16 at the time (literally last year) so could make an informed decision. The only thing it affected was ✊️💦 and apparently his was an extreme case as usually it can be loosened up in a warm bath or two 😅

Avatar

Definitely leaving it up to my husband as I have no experience or truly know. But he gave me information on circumcised vs uncircumcised and I am in agreement with his choice to get him circumcised. I trust that he wouldn’t make a wrong decision regarding our son.

Also we are religious and the Bible states it as well. “For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner—those who are not your offspring.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭17‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Avatar

I’d strongly advise against it. It’s unnecessary and you’d be removing a part of his body when he’s too young to give his consent.

Avatar

I’m due in FEB too and I decided to circumcise, personally I’ve been my nephews and family members get late circumcisions from infections and unable to pull the foreskin back properly so I prefer to just avoid the issue altogether.

Avatar

I’ve seen*

Avatar

so if it’s mutilation, it’s okay if it’s for religious reasons in your eyes?

Avatar

@Jenna it is not okay, but it is not for me to decide which religious teachings are right or not, and thats a whole other can of worms. No matter the circumstances though, to remove parts of skin that everyone has for reasons other than medical is wrong.

Avatar

When I looked into it, In Canada it used to be an option right after birth but now they don’t see it as medically necessary so it’s a separate procedure we have to book. I went with no circumcision after looking into the potential complications and pros/cons, even though my husband is circumcised. I just thought that I didn’t want to do a surgery on my son unless he needed it.

Avatar

It’s a personal decision for your family. We opted against it leaving the decision up to my son when he gets older. There was no medical need and we didn’t feel it was necessary.

Avatar

Please also bear in mind that it’s irreversible. You’d be taking the decision out of his hands. He can still get it done when he’s older and he can decide for himself (yes, I know it’s even more painful and risky at a later age, but at least he’ll have chosen it himself). I don’t think it’s right to make that decision for him (unless there’s a strong medical reason).

Avatar

@Sania I mean, when it comes to religious reasons as I said before I'm not one to decide what is wrong and what is right, but "including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner - those who are not your offspring." - this makes it sound like it is also acceptable to buy a baby with money from a foreigner, which to me doesn't sound right. So if that is not right, what else in the bible is wrong? The old testament also states that is it okay to kill an adulterous spouse (Leviticus 20:10). So I would definitely take everything that religious teachings say with a pinch of salt.

Avatar

My husband had issues with it as an adult and the experience was so awful for him and he doesn’t wish that for our son. So he prefers to get it done for our son when he’s a baby so we are both planning to go ahead with this decision. We are planning to inquire more about the procedure with our Dr

Avatar

May I ask what issues he had? I’ve seen the pros and cons for circumcision but not really so much the cons for not getting it done. So I’m just trying to be as informed as possible

Avatar

It’s a hard decision to make, where I’m from I’ve never heard of anyone NOT being circumcised. My husband is indifferent either way so I’m planning on talking to a doctor for more information before we decide.

Avatar

Technically I let my son’s dad choose because I don’t have a penis. But in the back of my mind I’m glad he decided to get his circumcised because I saw an ex boyfriend rip his situation down there and that’s a kind of pain I don’t think any man should experience. Like…a 33 year old man calling his mom screaming and crying kind of pain. I don’t want to get that call.

Avatar

My son is not in the turtleneck club. I decided by speaking with my man about it. He's circumcised so he wanted his son to be.

Avatar

I have 3 boys and they are circumcised. It healed so fast and my husband is also circumcised.

Avatar

I refused to do it to my boy even though my partner is Muslim, I just could not put my baby through that pain he is perfect the way he is

Avatar

We circumcised our son so that it is easier for him to keep everything clean. It’s a personal decision. However, I do think that next time, I would wait until my son is 8-10days old and nursing is well established before doing the procedure. This timeframe is best based on the studies I’ve looked at, we just do it when they are a day old in the hospital for convenience.

Avatar

I know everyone has different reasons why to do it and why not to but I’m confused as to why people are saying “removing a part of their body” like you’re removing their whole penis or something 🤨🤨 it’s literally a quick snip and stitch.

Avatar

We chose not to so he can decide later on in life himself. Anything that happens to my body is my choice, so I want him to have the choices for his own body. They can always get it removed later, but they can't ever put it back.

Avatar

@Jul the skin is attached to the body, or in other words, part of the body...

Avatar

I let my husband choose but you could do a pros and cons list I will say I chose to do it and my son didn't seem to be in any pain at all he came back just as he had left even with cleaning it and everything he didn't have pain and it healed great. For me it means easier to clean and less infections

Avatar

I didn’t circumcise my boy. His dad made the choice but I’m happy with that choice.

Avatar

We decided not to do it. I talked with my boyfriend (who is circumcised) and we did our research together. We felt it was unnecessary and far as keeping it clean my bf can teach him that. we haven’t had any issues so far. We felt like its was just for cosmetics and quite frankly that was no bodies business but our son. Most drs don’t even recommend it.

Avatar

My son has been circumcised only reason why I did it is because I didn't want him having any problems when he got older (sexually) and I just know men that haven't been circumcised that have had health issues

Avatar

the foreskin got too tight for the penis and it was painful for him. He had to get it done as a young adult as an emergency issue. The recovery period for him was very traumatizing - any small vibrations would trigger and hurt the wound. He felt pain even when people were walking around the recliner he was resting in after the surgery etc

Avatar

i got my boy circumcised based off what his father’s opinion was. he said we should, so we did. it’s also more hygienic & has less risk of infections

Avatar

welpppp we technically do it for birth …. 🤔 Any other questions 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Avatar

YUP I SAIDDDDD IF MY PARENTS WANTED IT DONE AT BIRTH THEN YES I WOULD HAVE NO CHOICE! AND PRETTY SURE I WOULD HAVE BEEN CONTENT WITH THEIR DECISION IF IT PREVENTED INFECTIONS, ETC. NOWWWW ANYTHING ELSE? 😒😒😒

Avatar

please stop @ing me 🙄 cus I don’t wanna be disrespectful 🤣🤣✌🏽

Avatar

yea cus you steady mentioning me in a convo about OUR OPINIONS like I SAID I know people have their reasons why and why not. You didn’t have to keep going! Please go somewhere with your bad wig and have a good day now stop mentioning me ✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽

Avatar

lmaooooooo you don’t even believe that yourself 🥱🥱✌🏽

Avatar

Just want to say that most of the world doesn’t circumcise boys. It’s an American thing & a religious thing. I grew up in Europe & never heard about circumcising little boys before moving to America. And our men turn out just fine without the procedure :) bottom line is as a parent doing research before and informed consent

Avatar

@Laaparis Courtney absolutely not. What part is beneficial?
The fact that his penis will become less sensitive over time? That is not beneficial.
The fact that it's easier to clean? Don't be lazy and teach your kid personal hygiene.
The fact that "females may prefer a cut penis"? Teach your kid about healthy relationships so they don't date superficial people.
So what exactly is beneficial about it? I expect to see scientific research papers, not random articles that anyone on the Internet can write.

Avatar

@Laaparis Courtney oh look at that, when we can't back up what we say with actual facts that have been proven, we resort to insults. Nice. 😆

Avatar

Ever heard of safe sex? Removing ones foreskin will not help prevent HIV. A condom would.

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
