Breastfeeding on one side

My baby will only take one side while breastfeeding I’ve tried so many things to get her to switch over but she refuses. She will cry and then end up taking a bottle before she takes the other side. She has a great latch and feeds on the one side all day. She hasn’t had any issues with weight but I really want her to take both sides. Any advice?

My baby went through a phase of the same thing, but she eventually started taking the other side too. I don’t pump often but I did and noticed way less on that side, so i’m not sure if it was bc she didn’t nurse that side or if she didn’t nurse that side bc not much milk comes from that side

So I’ll just keep offering it to her hopefully she takes to it. I pump that side more since she doesn’t breastfeed on it.

thats what I did! My partner was always like “ just give her the other boob!!” bc she would be crying but I was always like no she needs to take it eventually!! So just keep trying hopefully she will take it:)

She’s very stubborn about laying on that side of her head so I think it has something to do with that but it’s been a pain! If she took both I’d EBF but I get worried she’s starving

awee yes i read somewhere some babies don’t like laying with their head on one side

Have you tried the football hold on the other side so she's laying the same way kinda? I had to do that on one side when were still in the hospital but now I can hold him however on both

Avatar

no I haven’t! She will nurse sometimes laying down but she gets weird about positioning too 😫

Was the football hold something you tried so your baby is laying the same as for the boob she does take?

Nevermind I just read all the comments. My baby had a side preference and it was due to her muscles in the neck being tight on that one side. We did baby chiropractor appointments 3 weeks in a row and our lactation consultant can tell a big difference. And I find that when she is asleep that turning her head to the non preferred side is easiest to make her like that side aswell.

Sometimes it is a good idea to take them to a baby chiropractor in case it’s something muscular in their neck or head from only wanting to be in one side , they’ll give you some exercises to do and stretches that will help

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.

Hi ya'll

Is anyone else's 4 month old randomly screeching now? I'm not sure what to do and she's been doing this for the past two days. She's usually a quiet happy baby so im not sure why she's doing this now. Aby suggestions?
