I always feel like my baby bites too much off whatever I give him. I’m forever fishing it out of his mouth as he’s starts choking. I’m aware of the saying “loud and red go ahead, silent and blue they need you” or something like that but honestly the bites sizes he’s taking he really will get it stuck in his throat. I’m honestly terrified and also feel like he’s not eating much as it’s all too big for him to swallow. 🤷♀️

I'm absolutely no expert, but I was told at baby first aid to not put your finger in their mouth. Think it can actually increase their risk of choking.
My daughter takes big bites too but just moves it round her mouth, gags, and then spits it out. I'm seeing it as part of the learning curve! Xx
Thank you, I haven’t been able to get into a first aid class yet. I think I’d definitely benefit from it though as I know I’m anxious about him choking and not being able to get it out. Xx

Yess blind sweeping where you go in and fish around to get something out can increase the risk.
It is super scary when you see them take a large bite but that’s how they learn and they’ll work it out!
I downloaded the British Red Cross baby and child first aid app - it’s got info for all first aid scenarios with videos and info etc and I’ve found it really reassuring to know I can easily check it if I need to in emergency. It’s free to download x

It made me feel so much more confident, I'd definitely recommend. In the mean time there are some great videos from St John's Ambulance and The Red Cross on YouTube that show you what to do if the event of him choking xx
