2 days to go - planned C section

Mega waffle, apologises in advance šŸ˜‚

Hi everyone, I just wondered if anyone could ease my worries a little? I’m due to have a planned C section on the 12th (this Friday) and just wanted to ask some things / find out further info? (Google isn’t helping lol)

Those who have had a C section, does it hurt? Like the epidural and actual section? I’ve asked my midwives etc and they said uncomfortable but just wondered if anyone had any first hand insight for me cause I’m starting to get more and more anxious as it nears! Or is there anything you’d recommend etc?

I’m so so ready for the little man to be here now and all things are sorted for him, but the actual procedure is a bit daunting for me. (Scared of needles and surgery šŸ˜‚šŸ„“) I’m 39 weeks this Friday, the day of the section.

I don’t have the option for a ā€˜natural’ birth due to the fact I have 2 wombs so it’s all a bit emotional for me, first time mam also! My partner is great in supporting me and my family etc are brilliant, but I’m still mega nervous and with how helpful this app is, I thought best to ask and try ease my own mind a little.

Thanks everyone x

Awww hun what you are feeling is natural.
I had needles etc but I had an elective and it was fine.
I was so worried and nervous but it really isnt as bad as you think. It doesnt take long either.
I didnt feel the epidural, everyone was so lovely.
You do feel pushing and tugging but its weird coz it doesnt hurt.
Just try and focus on seeing your baby.
Recovery was fine too.
Happy for you to message me if you have any questions.
Good luck! X

thank you Emma. That’s really helpful, I’m just so ready for him to be here, I’ve been hyper focused on that part and my anxiety has just rocketed knowing the getting him here part includes the C šŸ˜‚ as bizarre as that sounds! I will do thank you x x

Hey lovely! Hope you okay and not feeling too nervous! I had a planned section on the 14th November and it was fine 🄰 I had the cannula put in which was more uncomfortable than the actual epidural itself. And again like above its a lot of tugging and pulling which feels strange! But you will be fine! ā¤ļø I feel like the wait was the hardest as I had to be there for 7.30am and didn’t go down till like midday! You will smash it ā¤ļø

I didn’t have a planned section mine was an emergency one I’m also petrified of needles but my midwife was amazing she held my hand and kept talking to me as they were doing the spine blocker I had to have that as my epidural was wearing off but you don’t feel anything really just a lot of pulling and tugging it’s more you moving if that makes sense. I did however throw up in the middle of mine as I got motion sickness. The pain is afterwards so make sure you keep dosed up. Good luck it’s so exciting x

i had a c-section on the 4th. and it was my first baby.

i obvi had the epidural and i didn’t feel much. all i felt was tugging and pulling. just like someone pulling your arms a bit tight but would i do it again? yes.

i had a horrible labour and ended up getting an emergency c-section, and i would rather have a caesarean than go through hours of the hell i went through x

I'm not a c section mummy but what I would say is its never how you think it will be. You just take it moment by moment and when you are there about to get started everyone is so nice and will put you at ease. I did have an epidural, the spray they put on is the worst bit it's sooo cold. You can feel like a pressure but it doesn't hurt really. By the time you know it baby will be out. From what I hear its after that's worse as you are recovering from major surgery and you are expected to just crack on as usual. I saw on tiktok of you hook a towel under the mattress you can pull on that to help you get out of bed. Just try to relax and take it min by min you'll be absolutely fine and wonder what you was worrying about after 🄰

Hey, years ago I had a traumatic emergency c section and so I was absolutely terrified to have an elected c section. I absolutely did not need to worry!!! The build up to it and the op was so calm and relaxing, we even got to connect our phone to Bluetooth and play our own music. The needle was just a lil uncomfy, once I laid down and ready to go, no pain whatsoever! I felt tugging here and there, baby is born literally a few minutes after so I was occupied while they were stitching back up. I learnt that you do need to get up and about but still need to relax your body, it’s important to move around a little bit. I healed much faster this time because of it x

It’s absolutely normal to be nervous! I had an emergency c-section in October. Even though it was an emergency the staff all still made it feel very calm, they were very supportive. The spinal block/epidural wasn’t too bad at all, I was so focused on it being the next step to the baby coming at the point I wasn’t even that bothered about any pain. It was just a little stingy. The midwife was with me the whole time they were doing it too. I would recommend keeping on top of your pain medication afterwards, potentially getting some adult nappies for the first few days. Also if you don’t have a walk in shower at home and have a bath/shower like me arranging some sort of block or step to stand on to get in and out. I didn’t think of this till it was too late šŸ˜…. I would also recommend a handheld electric fan, I got one off amazon and I used it most nights I was in afterwards! Hope that helps in some way. Let me know if you have any other questions, I know it’s hard to imagine 😊 x

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient šŸ˜‚šŸ„²

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!
