Not talking

Honestly, do not worry at all!!! Sounds like your son is right where he should be in terms of skills and speech! I know SO many 2-3 year olds that barely say anything, not even what you’ve said above^ and they are still ok. As long as he’s aware of what you’re saying that means he understands and it will come with time. My son is pretty much at the same stage, will ask me for things but mostly 2-3 word sentences. Our health visitor actually said he was advanced and it doesn’t sound like he’s saying much more than your son! Don’t worry xxx

He just doesnt answer me when im asking him things, ill say “you hungry” he nods, but i ask him “what noise does a dinosaur say” (he will rawr when he sees one) and he just looks at me like im a weirdo 🤣

Hey sounds like your son has the understanding so the language will all come in time.
Single words and 1/2 words together the now is completely normal. So please try and not worry too much. I know it’s hard not too. SLT would not look at ur little one where I stay and work (in a nursery nurse) as he has the understanding. X

This is my son aswell. But I'm honestly not worried. He is so smart in other areas, I kbow his speech will come when his ready. If he understands by nodding etc then his already getting there xx

That’s how my son is. I also think he says things once and we hear him and then ask him to repeat it and he doesn’t want to haha. He’s too stubborn. He understands everything we say and can nod his head yes or no and will say some of the sign language we have done but won’t say actual words.

My son is 22 months and we only have 5 words in context: mamma, papa, brum brum for car, goal when he kicks a ball and ca for cat.

His receptive language is great and he’s been brought up trilingual (two languages spoken at home plus one at nursery.

I am thinking his brain is just registering it all and when he’s ready he’ll start talking.

It’s hard not to fall into the trap of comparison.

Have you definitely ruled out hearing issues!? I am going to at the end of this month.

Also, look into Raising Little talkers method (she’s on IG)

And consider supplementing with nutrients whose deficiency has been linked to speech delay such as vitamin B12, Folate, Omega s and Vitamin E. I have started and hope it’ll help x
