Someone please tell me I’m not alone in feeling this. I’m 8 months postpartum to a little boy but I feel no connection to him at all! When he crys I just want to walk of to bed and ignore it, when he screams I know I shouldn’t but it shout at him to shut the fuck up, I don’t have the energy or patience to deal with him.
I was told I couldn’t have children so never accepted my pregnancy then I had a very traumatic birth which I only remember small parts of because I was given so many drugs during an emergency csection after I nearly died. This child doesn’t feel like mine it feels like someone’s given me a baby to look after then just not come back and I don’t know what to do with him. It does make my happy when he learns new things but other than that I’m generally just not interested in him and get massively fed up with him.
I shouldn’t be a mum and I don’t know what to do?

Hey sweetie you are not the only person to feel this way no, but there is help there for you and I think it would be really important to reach out to your GP and look at getting you some support. Youve been through a lot in terms of the pregnancy and C-section, combine that with hormones, poor sleep and just babies in general and that can really take a toll on your mental health. There's no shame in getting some help and hopefully changing that feeling for you. You are doing what you can at the moment and that's a lot, please call your GP or health visitor. Message if you want to talk x

Your not alone. I can understand and relate to a lot of what you have said through personal experiences. Please reach out for help to your GP and HV. They can support and sign post you to get further support that can help you. Please message if you need to talk xx

Definitely not alone in this, I think motherhood is so hard and sometimes it doesn’t help with social media when all you see if Mums say about how much they have fallen in love with motherhood but then don’t show the real side of it. Feel free to message if you just need to rant. I’ve also got a 7 nearly 8m old boy x

You are not alone at all!! I have some days where I feel like this.. also had an emergency c section which was and still is a bit of a blur
I completely understand that feeling of your little boy not feeling like yours and I think an element of this is because of how he was bought into the world! My little boy was born in September 2023 and I have days were I don’t have the energy! Most of the time when I sit and think about why I’m feeling certain ways, I’m able to rationalise that it’s not my little boy who is making me feel this way but many other factors! One thing that always helps me when my little boy is screaming.. stick him in the pram and go for a walk, the fresh air is great for both of us and 99% of the time he’ll fall asleep and I’ll leave him in there to sleep when I get home! I have spoken to my local HV and they have been really nice and supportive so I would recommend you do this.. or I’m happy to chat if you want to drop me a message!

If he screams hold him near a sink and turn on the tap and let him feel the water. This always calms my baby down! I find when they’re screaming your brain just can’t cope and everything feels more overwhelming. Seee if you can do one baby class a week to see other mums so you know you are not feeling alone in this. Your local library will probably have a free ‘rhyme time session’ once a week or your local children’s centre will be soooooo helpful (just give them a call). I hope this helps.

Sounds like PNP. Well done for speaking out. Now you just need to express this to the GP ❤️
