I've started following tne 4-6m routine by blissful baby expert but after waking baby at 11pm for feed today it took her over 30mins to go back to sleep which when adding her changing and feed time to this mesnt that she was awake 1hr. I feel like this is way too long and should have only been 30 mins. Any others who suffer from this or did in past and have advice? Should I have let baby sleep into the night rather than wake her up (she went down at 8pm) but then I fear feeding in night would be worse for her sleep habits (and hell for me if shes still wants this feed by the time im back in work when shes 7 months old)

I had a look at this routine and that’s the only part I’ve skipped out! And slightly adjusted times lol my wee one does sleep 7/8 to around 4/5 then takes a full bottle and change before going back to sleep till around 8am so I thought by doing that late feed I’d be counterproductive waking her up when she’s in such a deep sleep! Im not a sleep expert but I’d say that’s maybe for babies waking up more times a night than mine so if that’s you then maybe? However if your wee one has been staying awake an hour maybe give it a test run without? I’m sure these schedules have some flexibility for different babies so do what suits you 🤍🤍

I also try to follow this routine but I skip the 11pm feed and let my little girl sleep til she wakes up which is usually 2/3. She has either a full bottle or just half, a nappy change then back to sleep!

how old is your baby?

My baby is 17weeks, he went down at around 8, woke up 11 and we were up for more than 2hrs trying to get him to sleep. After so much crying and laughing and rocking, he slept at almost 2am....1:55am to be precise.
I honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong. He's been very fussy and hard to put down since yesterday and this is tiring and frustrating. He just kept screaming and crying 😪

My baby 4 months today sleeps through 8pm till 630 am as I wake her then because school runs but never wake her for feed midwife said as good weight don’t need to wake and I find it so much better than waking her to feed her , I also have a cloud cushion plays the womb sounds and some reason it helps her sleep if it’s off she don’t sleep well it came with the next to me crib x

so if she wakes in tne night do you offer a feed or just soothe? Xx

Agree with . Sleep experts/sleep apps while they have there positives they also create this pressure for you to be doing this “routine”. I’ve been there, used the huckleberry app which formulates a sleep schedule based on your baby’s sleep and bloody hell it just adds more stress to your day. You feel like you can’t leave the house because of the unrealistic expectations of naps. My advice is to allow your baby to create their own routine and they will do this when ready. If they are asleep don’t wake them. They will wake if hungry and if they’ve missed a bottle because they fell asleep , that’s ok, they will more than likely make up for it the next day. X

I’ve tried multiple times to follow Blissful Baby routines and it’s just never worked for my LG! The 10-16 week one only has 3 naps with one of them being for 2-3 hours and I can just about get her to do 40 minutes. When she goes to sleep 7-8pm I just let her wake when she’s ready for a feed

I have been following the same routine since my lg was about 6weeks old, we’re now on the 4-6 month routine. We’ve always woke our lg at 11pm for a feed and nappy change and we dropped the 3/4am feed at 9weeks. Sometimes her naps don’t work during the day but we stick to the feed times and bedtime. She has always gone back to sleep after her 11pm feed but maybe that’s because she’s used to that now with doing it for so long. She slept till 7am this morning, sometimes she will wake in the night and we give her the dummy. This past week she’s been waking a lot so yesterday I stuck to the routine exactly and got the long nap at lunch time I had to settle her back down half way through. We’re now working on self settling as that’s what is causing us and issue now
If you keep at it then your lo should get into the habit of going back to sleep at 11pm. It is a good routine to follow but we do tweak slightly and if we are out for the day it doesn’t always plan out

One more thing, the plan is to stop the association of feeding to sleep, so babies don’t rely on nighttime feeds to fall back asleep. But if you’re happy to let your baby wake when they want to feed that’s your choice too. I prefer to feed her just before we go to sleep so I know she will stretch till morning but it may not suit everyone. I’ve got two older sons who I didn’t have a routine with and I was feeding through the night for a long time so this works best for me from previous experience. Especially once I return back to work x

Following this routine but even when I wake baby fully usually around 10.30 for me he is still really sleepy and will fall to sleep straight after the feed, he won’t drink that much but I know it will top him up till the morning.
I am finding it really hard to follow her naps though and have been getting quite stressed as baby won’t do the long nap in the middle of the day 😞 he is constantly waking in the night now too x

we don’t always get the long nap in the middle of the day, my lg was doing a long nap about 3:30 till 5.. I’m trying to change it to the lunch time though. If she wakes through her day nap I’ll go in give her the dummy and leave the room she generally settles back to sleep then. We have to have a black out blind otherwise she won’t sleep longer than one cycle as she’s too nosey. We need to work on self settling as that’s what is causing her to wake up during her naps and the nighttime. She goes to sleep at bedtime by herself but we can’t get her to do the same for naps…

she is 15 weeks x

hey Stacey, could you let me know which black out blind you got?

we got this one https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9434055?clickSR=slp:term:tommee%20tippe%20blind:2:2:1
