My 11 week old is just not having enough. She was in the 43rd percentile when born and dropped to the 4th about a week ago. She was re weighed yesterday and was on the 6th. She looks chubby but is only 4.49kg and still fits in her newborn clothes as a lot of the 0-3 are still too big.
I feed her every 3 hours during the day up until around 7:30-8, I then give her a dream feed at 11:30-12 and then she has her next feed at 6:30-7 in the morning. She has plenty of feeds as a lot of the time I’ll feed her in between the day feeds as she’s only been having 2-4oz. Some days she’ll only have 16oz the whole day.
The health visitor suggested it could be silent reflux as she doesn’t really spit up, (she has no more than 10 times since being born but there has been a few where I was shocked by it as it was quite sudden) lactose intolerance or cows milk protein allergy.
She has suggested I try the colief I already have again for at least 2 days and then maybe infacol or dentanox if that doesn’t work. She was also prescribed the Pepti formula at a few weeks old because she was having diarrhoea badly so cmpa was suspected but I tried colief for a bit and she seemed to improve. Also I’m not sure it’s cmpa as she actually stated to up her feeds even having a few 5-6oz bottles around 7-8 weeks. It was just before 9 weeks she stopped having as much milk.
She always seems congested but is generally a happy baby but she does get very upset at times for ages and screams, she just looks like she’s uncomfortable quite a lot.

I could have written this myself, I’m having exactly the same issues as you! I don’t have any answers unfortunately but thought I’d let you know you aren’t on your own 😔 x

I'm no expert but maybe 14oz is a bit too low? https://www.whattoexpect.com/first-year/how-much-formula-does-your-baby-need#:~:text=3%2Dmonth%2Dolds%20will%20generally,every%20four%20to%20five%20hours.

Have you tried shortening the feed windows?

My little one has been like this since he was about 3 weeks (15 weeks this weekend!) he’s been round the houses - reflux, suspected CMPA, has been on Aptamil Pepti, colief, gaviscon, notning made a difference. We’re now on goats milk and it does seem to have helped with the screaming / crying inbetween feeds. Don’t get me wrong he’s nowhere near 100% but it’s deffo helped, i think the cows milk was too rich for him as apposed to an allergy x

she is fed quite a lot during the day. She often feeds in between feeds any left over I had poured out of her bottle as I knew she wouldn’t finish. So she’s having mini feeds an hour-2 hours after her actual feed. She’s having at least 6 feeds a day but mostly 7 and upwards. I can’t really shorten the window anymore in the day. The plan at the moment is to try colief for at least 2 days to see if her feeds go up then infacol for at least 2 days if that’s doesn’t work. If they don’t work I’ll be waking her up around 4:30-5am rather than 6:30-7 for a feed. I just don’t want to ruin the routine we’ve got into if the drops work. I feel if I just add an extra feed we won’t work out what the issue is where as If for example, colief works it could be cmpa.

she seemed to be ok with it up until 8 weeks so it’s weird. Just don’t understand how she could go from starting to move up to 5oz to barely finishing 3 most of the time. She has her few crying moments but most of the time she actually seems ok. She always seems a bit windy though🤷🏻♀️

do think you burp her enough? Esp if she is quite windy ?

My daughter has silent reflux and potentially is lactose intolerant too so we have started her on colief, I was told it takes at least 2 weeks to start to see a difference though so stick with the colief and see how you go. She’s also on Gaviscon and omeprazole for the silent reflux too which is defo helping. She used to get half way through a feed and squirm and scream but now drinks it all no problem. Xx

Yh sometimes I burp her in between oz. Sometimes she just won’t burp though so I have to hold her upright for a while as she had spat up before when I put her down too quickly
