Hiding the c section overhang

Hi everyone, hope you’re all ok!
I’m just wondering if anyone has any advice about reducing or hiding my overhang? I had my second c section in March, I didn’t have an overhang after my first 5 years ago, but this time I’ve been left with a big saggy belly, while the rest of me is back down to pre baby size. I’ve been to the doctors and they’ve told me to exercise and have a healthy diet to lose weight. I’ve been left feeling really dejected as I eat well and exercise regularly anyway, I wouldn’t mind if I was all around curvaceous, but it’s like everything else shrinks except my belly yet the doctors keep repeating the same thing every time, I genuinely look 6 months pregnant still and have been asked if 3rd is on the way 😑 Does anyone have any advice for reducing the overhang, feeling really self conscious and down about myself 😞

I get the feeling i use to not have one then i had my 1st almost 6 years ago n got one as i carried alot of water and then i had my second baby 12 weeks ago. Only thing i do is wear like waist trainers and try to eat healthy and exercise so it shrinks but it wont ever fully go away

That’s what I’m finding Melissa, it just won’t go, had a lot of water weight with my second daughter too. I definitely had a bit of a belly after my first nearly 5 years ago but didn’t have the overhang, I wore corsets and waist trainers and it reduced over time, but this time around I can barely fit anything over it, I’ve been eating healthy and exercising and it’s just making the skin sag even more. It’s so bad that when I tried to tidy up my downstairs area I couldn’t even see what I was doing because there’s too much skin 🫠 xx

@Cleopatra i wish i could give you a positive answer but for myself ive struggled with it for years that ive now come to accept it and ive seen alot of woman do have one too 💞 it will probably only ever shrink gradually. because it is a surgical scar but for it too be 100% gone i guess it will have to be a mummy make over. Thats what ive noticed for probably 2 3 years after having it i kept hating myself n trying to reduce it but its very hard
I went to gym dieted but for myself it didn't help. But now im use to seeing it. Xx

I also wish i could give you an answer, my first baby 9 years ago was natural, but then 6 years ago i had a c-section with my second, i had a slight overhang but nothing too bad! Now I’ve just had my 3rd baby another c-section 7 months ago & i feel awful, my belly overhang is horrendous, it actually looks like i have 3 separate bellies!! X

I’m super down about mine too, and I had my first in July. Im just gonna keep trying to lose weight and tone my belly. when i decide not to have anymore kids i might consider a tummy tuck

Avatar

@Carly ive had two kids and dont want anymore i think i am gunna save for a tummy tuck but no idea where to start with it haha.

Think I’m gonna end up saving for a tummy tuck to be honest 😔 Just feels like fighting a losing battle, looking like a barrel on little twig legs 😂 Did you get long line waist trainers to help with your tummy? Just wondering if there’s longer ones, the one I had just squished everything downward and make it 200% worse 😅 xx

Same, where previously there was one scar wrinkle, I’ve now got 3 or 4 😅 I’m noticing it’s really common in repeat c sections, maybe it’s something to do with the scar tissue folding back again 😩 xx

Ive nessaged you xx

Was that your first baby m’lovely? It took about 9 months for my first to shrink so you should get to a point you feel comfortable after having your little one! I’ve noticed it doesn’t really shrink after having the second baby and I’m wondering if it’s an issue with repeat c sections! Already looking into Mummy makeovers now I’m (sadly) done with having babies xx

Apparently scar massage helps to reduce it as it breaks down the scar tissue as they stitch the incision so tight it kinda heals that way and women are left with overhangs, but I had my second c section 4 months ago so not had a chance to get round to giving it a try but will definitely give it a try

I’m 13 months PP with my first and the same issue. I was able to find a physio and kineseologist who specialize in postpartum. They explained my diastasis recti (separation of my abs) and scar tissue massage. Been working out for two months and not sure if much improvement but feel better understanding that I’m doing the right exercises for it at least. I’ve had 4 people ask me if I’m pregnant with my 2nd over the last 6 months ago and it’s such an awful feeling. I also hate the stick legs and big baby belly but trying to accept it’s what got me my beautiful son and hopefully with the diastasis workouts will improve and strengthen in time for my second one 🙏🏽

There's a woman on tik tok called the 360 mama who shows how to do said massage on the incisions

Avatar

Thanks Sara, I’ll definitely look into that and give it a try, willing to give anything a go at this point! 😂 xx

After reading up a bit more about it I think that may be what I have too, I’ll definitely look for someone in physio in my area who might be able to help! It’ll definitely take a while doing the exercises so I’m sure you’re doing great Penny, keep a photo journal and you’ll notice the difference no doubt! Ugh, that feeling when someone asks you is horrible isn’t it, just knocks your confidence completely 😞 But yeah agree with you there, would put up with anything to know the little’uns got here safely! 💖 xx

@Cleopatra same here, im sick of looking like a deflated balloon now 😂 post partum pilates are quite good aswell for core rehabilitation and diastis recti i just used to folow workouts on youtube as it was during lockdown, I did them after my first c section for a bit xx

Avatar

I’ll definitely look for someone in my area who specialises in post partum fitness Chaniqua, thank you! Yes the GPS don’t really seem to know what advice to give, one even said if I felt that self conscious maybe I should just get a makeover surgery 😑 xx

Avatar

Yesssss, that’s the description I’ve been looking for me belly!! 😂 Like a big balloon that somebody left for weeks to sadly deflate 😂 (Not even gonna get started on my sad balloon boobs either, that could take up a whole different thread 😅)
I’ve already been doing Pilates recently but found it made my tummy more solid but with no reduction in size, did you find that happen initially? Only been doing Pilates for about 6 week xx

Avatar

Hahah I'm the same , like the balloons kids get on birthdays and 6 weeks later there still inflated but deflate a little more every day 😂 it's ok balloon lives matter too!!

I did find the same but initially did reduce but muscle was building before the skin kinda firmed up, as stomach area flab is stubborn! Keep at it a few months and see if it helps , also exfoliation and massage will help boost circulation and cell renewal for firmer looking skin xx

Avatar

I’m saving for my tummy tuck since I have the same issue

Avatar

Awe thanks 🥹 ❤️ I hated talking monthly photos but I am now and I think it is helping. Only thinks is my PT told me when I tried YouTube exercises I may have made it worse because I didn’t realise I was pushing out and putting more strain/pressure on my diastasis and umbilical hernia. Same when I was picking up my son I didn’t know I was supposed to “zip up” and pull my abs in when I was picking him up so might have made it worse. Hope you were able to find someone helpful in your area, or hopefully there are some good videos out there that can explain that and the belly breathing/kegels etc better than I can! We got this hot momma’s 🔥 💪🏽 😎

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!

Anyone else’s owlet pi##ing them off ?!?! It goes off 5/6 a night saying it can’t get a reading and needs a snug fit. My baby is 8 months old so moves a lot. It is driving me insane and I keep end up taking it off!!
