I’m curious about what your (anyone) experience making friends on here is?
Here in Chicago, I happen to have younger friends in different life stages or have friends who have chosen to be child-free. I’m pretty serious about making friends but I find taking action/making space can be difficult for both sides. It seems particularly difficult to find older mamas in the same stage of life.
What are your thoughts or strategies to make legitimate friendships?
PS: I met my husband before dating apps were the main way to meet folks so this is literally my first time using an app to make friends. 😅

I find it positive in general. I think as long as people are willing to take some time out and understand each other life circumstances than friendships can be maintained. Each one of us have our own lives and sometimes that life is super stressful and hectic and we can’t just devote time to other people. But if both side understand that, then making friends with common interest, goals, histories and pasts are doable. It just take some time and some patience and a willingness to put oneself out there. I find on Peanut I am able to make friends easily with no issues. Generally for the most part, people are nice and on here for the same reasons: to vent, to connect, to make friends and to learn from each other’s life experiences.

I get that. I’ve met plenty of kind people and have had meaningful conversations and support via messages. I’m just wondering if anyone has had successful regular in person meetups? I think I left out that key detail. 🤦♀️

I personally didn't bother to text very long and met two girls literally the week of us talking. Worked perfectly. I'm sorry to say that I suck at texting unless there's friendship established, which is why I prioritized meeting over texting.

Oh and yes, regular meetups now 😊

yes, we have regular meet-ups with some of the women and their kids. Sometimes group meet ups too, whenever we find time to do so. Most of us know of each other from one another and the group expands that way.

I’m curious about the size of the cities y’all live in. I’m wondering if that makes a difference too?

I think it does. I live in NYC , New York

But some of the people I met are from the tri-states = New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania

It’s so interesting how varied peoples experiences are. Thanks for allow me to be curious.
