Infacol/Reflux?

Over a week or so ago my 6 week old began flailing around in the night with suspected gas pains, it was keeping him awake and he was barely sleeping. We’ve been giving him infacol which didn’t work straight away, and HV advised to up to two drops per feed. It seemed to help and he started sleeping better at night. However the past day or so, I’ve noticed more silent reflux type symptoms from him. He’s started crying after breastfeeding, sticking his tongue out all the time after feeding. He’s fussy again at night as soon as I lie him down, and I can hear him swallowing and making noises with his mouth all the time. He was even a little bit sick in his cot which he never usually is.
Do you think this is caused by the infacol? As I know it can be quite acidic, and should I stop using it?

Picture so we don’t get lost!

Are you just breastfeeding? My little one was the same, I stopped infacol and started using colief in her bottles and moved her onto anti reflux milk and she is a completely different baby, still had the occasional bit of sick but not as much before!xx

Infacol made my baby worse. I stopped using infacol and started using colief too - my baby is breast fed xx

My baby wasn’t diagnosed with reflux, however I do remember my lo going through a phase of fussiness (usually evenings). We gave her gripe water and made sure to hold her upright for a bit after feedings and didn’t place her down within 30 min of feeding her. It worked

I spoke to my HV and GP as my 6 week old was going through the same and thought it could have been infacol. I was advised there is no proof or research it causes any issues and it does not cause reflux so to continue using it (just what I was advised!) as Becky said above it is a big phase 6 weeks and they go through there first leaps here also, I was advised to ride it out with infacol, breaks in feeds and frequent burping, she’s a week later now and is a lot better but if you are concerned it’s worth speaking to your HV or GP xx

🤔 my baby’s now 8 months but he caught tonsillitis early.. he had reddish lips, kept sticking his tongue out, gulping and making swallowing noise when he wasn’t eating and struggling to drink his milk, he also cried throughout the entire night. Hopefully it’s not tonsillitis but keep an eye on his mouth & tongue. 😩💜

Thankyou, I’ve taken him off it for now and will see how this evening goes

We've had better results with probiotics. Her reflux was pretty bad especially week 4-7. But we're now 9 weeks and she seems a lot better.

Every baby gets reflux, this is normal as their esophageal sphincter is weak and not fully developed yet. I think when possible is best to not use medicine in such little babies. Have you tried natural remedies such as reducing feed volumes, sitting 90 degrees when feeding, sitting baby upright for 15-20 min post feeds with vigorous burping? Hope things resolve soon.

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

Am I wrong?

I’ve been wanting to add more garden beds to my garden. Husband says “hey do you want to go to Home Depot to get that wood for the garden beds.” Cool I’m excited I’ve been wanting to get this done for awhile.

We get there and we’re picking out wood and I make 2 comments about how I don’t like how 2 pieces of wood look that he picked out. And he says if you’re going to be this picky then u can do this yourself.

I literally made 2 comments and mind you I’m the one paying for the wood.

I felt dismissed and like my opinion didn’t matter and if I wanted to have an opinion then I need to do it myself. Like what?

It was rude and not okay. Am I wrong? Am I overreacting?

He thinks it was fine that he said that.

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
