Hairstyle ideas for this wild lady’s curls?

If her hair wasn’t so dang curly it would be down her back. I’ve gotten to the point I’m recycling hairstyles constantly and I wanna do something different :)

I'm in the same boat! I have flat/waving hair and our daughter has super curls! Some family members have suggested using product on her hair but I don't even know where to begin.

pinterest has some good ideas. that’s where i get the inspiration for my daughters hair

@Arielle we use hair oil (after a bath) sometimes a tiny amount of leave in conditioner to keep her curls moisturized and curl cream to fight some of the CRAZY that her curls turn into 😂 but as you can see, they go wild regardless. We have no idea who she got these curls from either. Mines super wavy and dads is straight but neither of us had curls as a baby or kid. My sister did though so maybe that’s where they came from.

@luu🤎 I’ll have to go look! I always feel weird asking for any hairstyle options because one person (my hair lady) recommended I look at like hairstyles from different ethnicities for her hair because it is so curly. But then when I went and bought her curl cream and the cashier chewed me out cause “she ain’t black”

Just a sec let me get pics for you!

@Darian Thanks!!

@Darian as a cosmetologist and braider, i can attest to there definitely is a difference in caring for white curly hair and black hair. i wouldn’t say her hair is curly or strong enough for things like stitch braids or knotless braids. but more french braids and stuff like that. her curls look to be around 2b/2c. also some products just won’t work as well because white curly hair can’t take as much oil being added to it. so it needs more water based moisture. less is more. she won’t need a leave in conditioner and curl cream. that could weigh her hair down because her looks pretty fine. i’d go with one or the other so her hair can still have some volume. and when you do add product rake it through then scrunch and leave it alone. don’t comb it after

@luu🤎 I don’t do both at the same time :) I should have clarified lol. So she only gets a bath one time a week at doctors orders because of her eczema. So we do a pea sized amount of leave in immediately after lotioning her and everything then usually day 3 ish after a bath is when I use the curl cream! I used it today and she had a bath last night but her hair absolutely was looking ROUGH after a hard night and we had stuff to do today but I think that’s the closest I’ve ever used them together lol and the oil is maybe a once a month thing in place of the conditioner. I honestly thought it would make her hair greasy to use ANY of it but we’ve never had issues thank goodness. And absolutely, any time I add product before I put her hair up I just scoop her hair up with my fingers, drives my husband batty that I don’t brush it all up into a pony 😂 but I told him that it can make her hair greasy as hell if I do because product on the scalp=greasy hair usually. Is there any different

@luu🤎 product you’d recommend for her hair that we maybe haven’t tried to maybe form her curls better so it isn’t wild? Would be used as a replacement for one of these once they’re out that is

Also @luu🤎 do you think her hair is possible to French braid? I know it would take FOREVER lol cause two year old 😂 well almost 2. But would it hold?

i love the curly kids brand. i use it on my kid clients and on my own kids. their shampoo n conditioner will help hydrate her hair. and their leave ins and curl creams are great! id also keep the routine you have. day 3 is definitely a good time to add curl cream. i think curly kids curl custard has a pretty good hold to it without making the hair feel crunchy but yeah definitely go for a french braid! my 2 year old daughter has type4 hair so i do protective styles on her. but ive been braiding her hair for a while. it definitely will take some time if she isn’t use to getting her hair done. but she will get use to it:) get some bows and stuff so she can play with them while you do her hair

@luu🤎 will do! ❤️ it’s so weird having a kid with curly hair cause my other three have stick straight hair. They HATE that their sister got the curls lol. My oldest was telling me how jealous she is of it when I was attempting to braid little lady’s hair the other day. I reminded her that my hair actually was like hers then got super wavy as I got older. And the longer her hair gets the more wave I’m noticing to it. So now she’s saying she’s “praying to the curl gods” 😂😂
