18 month old

Just curious of any behavior issues that increased significantly at 18 months. We’ve always struggled with daily tasks such as getting dressed and diaper changes. 80% of the time it is a big problem and down right tantrum and there are 20% times where he is distracted enough that it is fine. Recently last 2-3 days- getting in the car seat is a tantrum, not getting our way is a tantrum, taking our clothes on and off, staying asleep at night, being held when he asks to be picked up (he’ll arch his back and scream). He seems over stimulated and I’m trying to understand how to regulate that for him. I’m a SAHM and he has regular outings throughout the week. So I’m really just trying to see if anyone else has or is dealing with this similar issue and might have some solutions.

Meee!!! All mee!! And it's hard too because I have his 3yo brother as well to deal with, while also being 27 weeks pregnant. So, following if there are any tips, lol.

What's his schedule? Sounds like he could be overtired and overstimulated.

Mine is doing this as well!

Avatar

he typically wakes up around 7am and naps around 12:30/1ish until 3:30ish and goes to bed around 7:30/8pm

Our days typically consist of getting out of the house before nap time for at least an hour or 2 and then independently play and co- play with his dad or myself in the evening/ bath, etc.

We’ve notice he gets overstimulated when family is in from out of town and typically doesn’t sleep well through the night. We’re also looking at foods now to see if they are causing insensitivity at night.

I know the feeling. You’re not alone. We have a very similar schedule and we’re going through the same exact thing rn. I tell to myself and my husband that he’s just discovering his autonomy and his independence as a toddler. I’m a first time mom (feeling clueless most of the times) so I hope we all can find a way to process big feelings and have all an okay day.
I have also started singing happy and you know it or (mad, frustrated, etc) when he’s having a tantrum and it seems to help him calm down.
We practice breathing too to help him relax. It does not always work but I’m hoping that eventually it will.
I found myself feeling frustrated some days but I guess it’s just another stage , we will find a light at the end of the tunnel like everything in Parenthood.
I wish you the best 💗

Mine, me , us but I have notice acts like that the most , when he is sleepy. But it’s make everything thing so long and draining

My son is doing this. I spoke to the health visitor and she said they’re starting at this age to learn they have some independence and have a mind of their own its such a hard exhausting stage 😴

Ha yup us here too. My daughter is definitely showing a new independent side. She gets mad if I try to help her with something if she doesn't want help, or if we don't understand her quick enough, or if she doesn't get her way. We have a pretty consistent routine everyday, but now whenever it's time to take a nap or go to bed for the night, she immediately says "Play?? Play??" and when we say no it's a small tantrum. Giving options doesn't seem to help, she knows what she wants 😂 She's also started yelling and hitting when she's frustrated which is fun. Being sleepy or hungry definitely makes it all worse. Terrible twos here we come!!

We’ve had an increase in similar behaviors. Turns out he was cutting 4 teeth. Now that the teeth have come through, he’s back to his usual demeanor

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
