We have STRUGGLING with diaper changes the last few weeks. My 14 month daughter has been constipated the last 1.5 weeks and anytime she ends up with a dirty diaper it’s an absolute nightmare to change her diaper. 😢
I feel so defeated. She throws a major meltdown on her changing table, turns her self over on her tummy to sit up and will NOT let us change her. I pretty much have to bribe her with a bottle, stand her up or just change while she’s on her knees or butt. Help!!!!

Have you tried giving her her favorite toy or even the remote (or other random household object she be obsessed with grabbing) to hold while you change her diaper? That’s the only way my daughter will stay somewhat still through a poopy diaper change

yes, I’ve tried all the toys, our keys even our cell phones, but haven’t tried the remote. I’ll try that. Thank you!

In desperate times we’ve used Ms Rachel as a distraction as well

ooooh great thinking

Have you tried something like prune juice to relieve the constipation?

My daughter was the same way and ended up in the ER. We give her miralax mixed in her bottle twice a day to help ❤️

yes, I’ve been adding it to smoothies

ok. I’ll check that out, thank you

oh dang! It’s sooo hard 😢

Us too! Us too! My husband will hold her legs and entertain her while I wipe.

Does she like books???
I just discovered that my little one LOVES to hold books at the changing table. She loves to “read” in general so idk why I haven’t thought of it earlier. It has been a game changer!

Dr. Harvey karp the author of happiest baby on the block, recommends giving the baby a cookie to make it a pleasant experience and slowly give them half a cookie each time. And when they're not fighting it as much you can stop giving them cookies.
