So hungry baby milk is awful for their digestion. It settles them for longer because it takes so long to move through their digestive tract. It has much higher levels of thickeners in so is much more likely to cause constipation. I would feed more often on a standard first milk and see if it helps. He could be breathing funny because that’s a lot of thick milk for his small insides to deal with!
At that age I think we were on around 5oz every 3hrs

I would say that perhaps it’s just a little too much in one go for such a tiny tummy, I would opt for smaller amounts every 3 hours (5oz perhaps) My little one is 9 months old and still will rarely have an 8oz bottle in one sitting. Hope that’s helpful, maybe just trial it and see if he seems any better x

My son just turned 7 months today and he’s never ever taken more than 6oz. He was on maybe 3-4 oz every 2 hours when he was that age. I know every baby is different but that does seem like a lot! Babies that age should also not be going that long without eating. Mine still eats every 2.5-3 hours. He also only got breastmilk until 6 months so it might be different. It’s all a learning process, we’re all figuring it out still 🥰 In my opinion though that does seem like a lot, i’d maybe try giving him less but feeding him more often? He is precious btw

My boy is 8 weeks tomorrow and on 5oz every 3 hours. Sometimes he doesn’t finish a bottle and sometimes he does. It depends on the baby but have you tried the lowest teat? Our boy was coughing and getting milk on his chest so we moved him to 0, haven’t had a problem since x

I would say it’s a bit too much especially if he’s on hungry baby formula. I’d first suggest switching to a normal formula. Hungry baby is really bad for their digestion. My boy is 6 months and only on 7oz every 4 hours. Little and often if he really needs it would be better. They do confuse trapped wind for hunger so that’s something to take into account too xx

thank you I only moved him over to hungry formula the last 2/3 weeks as he was drinking so much in short amount of times before moving him to hungry he was still doing 6-7oz every 2/3 hours he was doing all the signs of being hungry but thank you will definitely change him back to normal formula!

yeah thank you! Yeah definitely going to try and do smaller amount of feeds x

thank you for the advice I only knew that if he drank all of the milk each and every time to up it but from what everyone is saying I’ve definitely been giving him to much! But thank you so is yours 🥹

yeah my little boy is on teat 2 as he didn’t get on with the lower teats so far he’s been okay x

yeah definitely going to switch over to normal formula but thank you x

yeah so the hospital did say for his weight that he should only be on 3 and a half oz so I’ll stick to what they told me for the meantime xx

I've never heard of this formula but when I looked it up it doesn't seem like a great idea.
I had a baby who I would say was a GREAT eater but he definitely didn't eat 8 oz bottles at 2 months.
I would say 4 oz every 3 hours sometimes every 2 if we had one of those weird days

Beautiful little guy btw. He's precious

yeah well atm I’ve been giving him 3oz every 2/3 hours and so far he’s doing okay but that’s also what the hospital recommended for me to do xx

I never heard of it either until my auntie recommended me to go on it, yeah I’ve just stuck to what the doctors have told me to do! But thank you 😊

My midwife told me to avoid hungry milk because it does something to their digestive system. At 2 months my boy was on 4oz every 2 hours. I remember the overwhelming feeling of thinking I wasn't giving him enough or too much, we just learn as we go. Try spacing the feeds out more with less x

Unless he’s being sick, no. You’re definitely not overfeeding him. I can’t believe you were told that by “professionals”. Unbelievable.
My boy was on 4oz ish every 2 hours at 2 months, so it’s about the same!!!
But as above yes maybe avoid hungry milk. It just stays in their system longer and it’s harder to digest.

yeah see I never got told that or I wouldn’t have moved him to it, yeah being a first time mum It’s hard knowing if I’m doing it all right x

@Aliyah she only told me because I mention about trying it otherwise I'd have used it too. It's all trial and error, see if spacing feeds help x

no he’s not being sick he hasn’t had any issues, I know i spoke to two doctors at different times and not one of them mentioned about how much milk I was giving him but then went to a different hospital and they said I was over feeding him so just wanted a little advice, oh okay yeah so around the same but just a little gap in between, but definitely going to take him of hungry milk x

oh okay yeah thank you definitely going to space out his feeds x

I got told the same when my daughter was the same age. I had to give 3oz every 3 hours to help her as she was getting bad tummy pains then gradually go up. The guilt that I felt when they said I was over feeding her was so bad 😢 x

When babies are poorly it’s better to give little and often especially if struggling to breathe. They find it really hard breathing on a full tummy x

I was told I was overfeeding but if your baby isn’t throwing the milk up, it’s not too much. I would switch to regular formula but just feed him more often if that’s what he needs! At 2/3 months my boy was on around 5/6oz every 3 hours and as he got older he increased the bottle size and had them maybe 4 hours apart. Follow his lead but would definitely recommend avoiding hungry baby formula x

So my son is currently 3 months, at 2 months we just upped him to 6oz bottles. He ate 5-6oz every 2-3 hours from 7am-9pm then only woke once a night to eat. I have always gone with if they suck a bottle dry the I up them I like there to be a little leftover in each bottle.
You can't over feed a baby, if they are full they won't suck and definitely stick to a normal formula.

8 oz is what I've been giving my baby since he turned 6 months if I remember well. Please check whether the package reports the volumes you should be giving by age (on the Aptamil formula there is a dedicated table for example). That amount seems quite a lot at that age 😞

He's just gorgeous! Hope you get it sorted mamma, keep doing your research 😘

I am giving my girl 4oz every 2-3 hours. Night time can get to 4 hours
