Father wants to travel...

So unexpected pregnancy and I decided not to terminate. He did not want the child but I couldn't go through with the termination so ultimately it's my decision to keep the child and I'm forcing him into a situation.

I have stated it is ultimately his choice whether he wants to be in this child's life. He keeps swaying back and forth, and although we are no longer together he wants to be intimate.

Anyway, he keeps on saying he no longer wants to be in the UK and wants to travel at least 9 months of the year. I have said he is okay to travel and I would figure out.

I just don't know where to start I would need to go back to work full time and I know nursery fees are expensive. I did want to go back to study to be a nurse, but I think for now it just isn't possible. Essentially I'm doing this alone and a part of me is worried I have made the biggest mistake but another knows I couldn't have lived with myself if I had terminated and I'm overwhelmed with guilt with even thinking about it.

I have no idea maybe this is just a rant or a cry for help. What the hell am I doing...

Its up to you if you want to be intimate or not you have consent too you don't have to just do what he wants..
Do you have any family nearby?
Perhaps check on things like Facebook marketplace for any free baby items and search for help organisations.
Check for any sliding scale / income assessed help for childcare
Check if you went to college if the college has any supports for single parents
I'm not sure about like child support, I dunno if he's obligated to give something if he wants to be partially in the child's life or if not.

But assuming single parenting I'd be checking out if there's any support organisations for that circumstance.

very aware that it's my choice whether to be intimate. Which I do not, it was more of a clarification of how confusing he can be with his actions of going extremely cold to hot. That when I deny intimacy again I go through a circle of being blamed for the situation which is difficult mentally. That is all.

I've looked into the majority of the above thank you, there aren't a ton of organisations but I will keep searching for support.

Honestly I don’t think I would be sexually attracted to someone I created a child with who was on the fence about being in the child’s life. Sounds like you went with your intuition as far as keeping the baby and while things may be tough, I think you will be happy with your decision. I’ll be a single mom as well.

Thank you . I'm trying to understand how people could think I wanted this situation...even though essentially it was my choice to proceed it was so tough.
I was told many years ago my ability to conceive would be near impossible. We were intimate without protection for year's because of this and after all this time I always thought it not possible. Fast forward 10 years and it happened.
I will figure it out I suppose I have too.

I am glad you choose life and yes you will figure it out this guy is so selfish you don’t need someone like that around you or your baby I hope you find help and some stability 🙏🏼

Are you in the UK?? You can get £500 maternity grant if you are, I know its not really a lot but may help a little xx

I don’t think you can feel you’re forcing him into a situation as it took two to make a baby and you didn’t lie to him.

we were having unprotected sex on the premises I was told I was I would never get pregnant. Although I was told this and we've been intimate for year's me getting pregnant has destroyed a trust. And well I do feel that way even though that was truthfully what I was told.

Hey, just wanted to reach out as I was really nervous about having my little one because his dad was being crap and we split up
Im now holding bub and he is honestly the best thing that could have happened to me. I knew I couldn't abort him because I've always wanted kids, knew I couldn't give him up because If I did I wouldn't be able to ensure that he was loved and taken care of and so I made the right decision for both of us and I thinks thats what you're doing.

Pregnancy gives you way too much time to think but when you're in the thick of motherhood I think you'll be good.

Also I think the goverment does a loan for people who want to retrain. I plan on retraining as well. Best of luck. And try not to let him stress you have as little to do with him as possible this is your last chance of rest 😂. You didn't trick him, so let go of the guilt and you have given him the option to do what he wants and thats exactly what hes doing

Family culture difference on money

Sorry this is long, I hope some of you get to the end and give advice!!!

So I’m a very thrifty person, things are tight at the moment, the cost of living crisis and my house is heated by oil so things are extortionate. We aren’t on the bread line but we aren’t flush, hubby might be made redundant so there is some financial pressure.

Sometimes I buy my sons something nicer, on the justification that I can sell it on after (♥️ vinted ♥️). I have also been planning on pretty much breaking even most of the baby things I bought from face book market place, side by crib, baby changing unit, etc.

Hubby and I have different money cultures with our families (he’s Indian, I’m British). I’m my family we don’t mix money, we would help each other out if someone was in trouble and will get each other gifts on special occasions. With hubby’s family money is much more fluid, they will give each other things worth thousands of £ just because.

Hubby’s brother bought him a new laptop and a new Google phone, he’s been very generous to hubby. Hubby hasn’t given the same back because brother is much richer.

Hubby and I mostly share finances. If it’s relevant I’m the higher earner.

Now to the point! My babies are so cute they’ve given hubby’s brother (currently single) baby rabies. He’s asked for our baby stuff when we’re done with it. He’s been so generous to hubby I feel really stingy saying no. But I’d never have bought some of the stuff if I wasn’t going to get a return on it - the thought makes me a bit anxious. If we gave all our baby stuff given the second hand value it still wouldn’t equal what the brother had given hubby.

I thought maybe I could give him some stuff but sell some stuff, but hubby said then his brother will just have to go out and buy that stuff, so I should name my price and ask his brother for the money. That makes me feel very uncomfortable, given how generous the brother has been to hubby.

So what do I do ladies? Give it all and suck it up? Give part of it and sell parts on Vinted/FB, or ask hubbys brother for money for it and be uncomfortable? Or do you see another solution?

No one is being entitled or rude here, just a culture difference I need to navigate.

Advice

Hi everyone! I honestly have 0 social queues when it comes to talking to anyone in general. I definitely have a hard time talking to other women and making new friends. I can 100% relate. I just don’t like the idea of texting or meeting up but when I do I’m like “oh this isn’t bad.” Any advice? I also have a hard time getting comfortable and just feeling judged by other women😅 I’m also 19 so maybe making a change in this now will help in the future making mom friends/friends in general. Thanks in advance!
