Tommee Tippee nappy bin

Is it worth getting? I’ve seen people rave on about it but I’ve also seen people say that it’s a waste of money so I’m on the fence about purchasing one myself… any feedback on it please?! X

You can get one for free when creating an amazon wishlist, that's what I did. Also get can refills from amazon which aren't the tommee tippee brand but work just as good and half the price.

I personally wouldn't buy one, we got ours for free, like mentioned above. If it wasn't free then we wouldn't have bothered x

Avatar

Love ours!!
We buy the Amazon refills. No complaints with it what so ever.

Avatar

I quite like mine. I’m considering getting one for downstairs too

Avatar

I like mine! My aunty gave her old one to us as she no longer used hers - it’s fab

Avatar

I got one and no longer use it, just bag up the nappy bags and put them straight in the nappy bin outside ready for collection (we have a big yellow bin where I live for them). Might be worthwhile seeing how your local council collects them

Avatar

I didn’t like ours, it got smelly very quickly, it’s harder to change than a normal bin and easy to forget, like Niamh said just bag up the nappy in scented nappy bags and pop in the bin either straight away or a bit later if it’s just a wee! X

Avatar

When there is a poo in my house said poo is removed asap 😂

I was given one and it went straight to the charity shop!

Avatar

what refills do you get!? Didn’t know about these and we’ve been buying the branded ones!

Avatar

It’s good to have a separate bin etc but we found as our baby got older it got full soooo fast and it’s faffy to change. I probably wouldn’t buy again and just buy a regular separate bin for nappies x

Avatar

No worst waste of money for me lol

Avatar

I find the bin really worth it to reduce smell, but we buy non tommee-tipped refills which work just as well but so much cheaper!

Avatar

We got one for free and it’s fine, I wouldnt buy one though! I did like it a lot more when my baby was brand new and you could kind of leave them on the changing mat for a second to do the bin and it’s a two handed job (or at least I can’t do it one handed lol) but now my baby is older and rolls, I can’t turn away from him incase he rolls off, so I have a normal pedal bin now x

Avatar

Nah a normal bin is fine.
We have one and it still stinks.

Avatar

Got one free. Don’t use the bin at intended and just use it as a normal bin. Baby only currently poops once every 2 days. So I imagine for babies that poop more it could be worth it. But for us, it wasn’t worth the price of the bags.

Avatar

thank you!! Will deffo try this!

Avatar

i got them on the 5th Jan & I have 1 left. They do last a long time. X

Avatar

If you make a baby wish list on amazon you can get it for free, that's what I done. I wouldn't of brought one but got it free and do find it very handy, especially at nighttime when changing nappies

Avatar

Not sure on the Tommee Tippee one but we have the Angelcare one and I wouldn't be without it!

Avatar

We used ours for the first 7/8 months and it was amazing! Really helpful for having one downstairs and one upstairs (bought them on offer) but now he is older (14 months) he doesn't need a nappy change as often so I haven't purchased any refills in ages so have just been bagging the nappies up in nappy sacks and chucking them in instead and it has been working well..keeps the smell in and means our kitchen bin doesn't smell every time we open it. heard good things about the Amazon refills but haven't got round to it

Avatar

We have a dedicated bin outside and out local council collects/ "recycles' them once a week. All nappies go in nappy bags then straight out into the lined bin.

I've seen the tommee tippee ones for inside but I just can't see how it's hygienic... they are probably OK at minimising the smell etc but the thought of a "tower of poop" sat in a bedroom/bathroom/anywhere inside just makes me 🤮... you'll still have to empty it/drag it through the house...

Avatar

How many nappies do these things take out of interest?

Avatar

mine takes loads. I stuff them in😂 never had an issue with it smelling either. I empty it maybe once a week

Avatar

geez 😳 that's a lot.

Avatar

Got one for free, definitely wouldn’t buy one. I just put small bin liners in it now

Avatar

I like mine! I had 2 - one upstairs and one downstairs it was just so much easier! Although poo nappies went into a nappy bag and straight outside 😂

Avatar

We got the Angel care bin. We had the tommee tippee with our first and it was a faff, the cassettes were expensive, it was covid so the off brand ones weren’t available much. The Angel care is much easier, it fits way more nappies and it came with 3 cassettes, baby is 15 weeks old and we are only half way through our 2nd cassette.

Do you wash your hands after changing a nappy?

I've been to quite a few baby groups where I've noticed a lot of her mums don't wash their hands after they change their baby. they just change them in the room and then carry on with the class. Personally, I find it gross and the same as going to the toilet without washing your hands. I wondered whatever everyone else thought.

Left over nappies

What do people do with leftover nappies when their babies go up a size, I have lots of size 1,2 and 3 from when my baby sizes up and im not sure what to do with them , binning seems wrong , charity and food and living banks only take them when it’s a sealed brand new pack , what do you do with your leftovers

Lump in breast when breastfeeding

I have found a lump in my breast that is sore to touch and hard. It feels kind of moveable. Has anyone had this while breastfeeding? It’s not mastitis as I’ve had that a few times

Head bump

My 10 week old had a head bump yesterday 2pm we went hospital cos she was sick twice at 6pm. They said she seems completely fine and not concerned. When we got home she went straight to sleep and slept continuously from 10pm-8am… 10 hours with no wakes she has never done that we usually wake 3/4 times a night. I woke her up at 8am just to see how she reacted to lights n stuff and to try feed her but she’s not interested in feeding. (EBF)
Is this usual? I’m a bit concerned? But drs said she was fine so idk

Insensitive husband.

So overall my hubby is kind & supportive of most things but at times a bit of a joker and can be quite immature (like most men)

I had a Vbac with my second but it was really traumatic so I’ve decided on an elective Section which is booked for 3 weeks time.

I’m obviously nervous like anyone would be as it’s major surgery but my husband has said things like “you do have life insurance don’t you” or “just cos you’re having a planned procedure doesn’t mean things can’t go wrong” 🙄 I said you shouldn’t be saying things like that you. He was trying to push me to have another normal birth but I have my good reasons not to & I still don’t think he’s on board!

I think maybe it’s cos he knows he will have to do more after a section than a normal delivery 🤷🏻‍♀️
Men are so insensitive sometimes. I mean do you think there’s any logic in what he’s saying?

Are you still breastfeeding?

The doctor has just told me that there’s no benefit past a year. And when I said that’s a weird thing to say, he told me it’s a fact.
