My little girl and I have done so well on our breastfeeding journey, despite some hurdles with her weight - she’s now 5 months. I largely exclusively breastfeed except for her last bottle before bed which is formula (or expressed milk). I’m starting to feel quite conflicted about whether I want to carry on breastfeeding but I don’t want to regret stopping and feel our journey was cut short. I plan to continue breastfeeding to the 6 month mark and I’m unsure whether, at that point, I want to stop. I think my main concern is not having breastfeeding to settle my baby as the boobs seem to solve anything and everything.
I was hoping to hear other’s experiences of weaning to formula and how the change to formula was for them.
Thanks very much

I’m having this exact battle in my mind, I’ve EBF for 5 months but now my baby will only settle for a sleep when on the boob, so I want to start bottle feeding but then I think I’ve come this far, why stop now when we’re gonna start weaning in 2 weeks time! But feeding to sleep is draining me mentally

I’m also considering formula feeding from 6 months. Breastfeeding hasn’t been easy and I also have the problem of my 2yo daughter having a hard time sharing my attention with the baby. I think if I didn’t breastfeed then at least their dad would be able to do some feeds and I wouldn’t be attached to the baby 24/7 and could spend more one to one time with our daughter. It’s not that I want to spend less time with the baby, but our daughter’s behaviour has been quite challenging and I think if I had more time with her then she would know she’s loved and make better choices with her behaviour.

Following, I'm keen to start reducing BF down when I begin weaning and start replacing a feed at a time with another bottle. Not sure how that works with supply though? We already give a formula bottle at bedtime but he's awake every few hours
