Are any of you other mamas still breastfeeding? My 14 month old has so many teeth now and is till teething, that it’s SO painful!! I don’t necessarily want to wean if I don’t have to but I’m really thinking about it since it hurts so bad.
Does anyone have any tips on different positions to put her in to make it more comfortable?
Does anyone have any info on how to possibly start the weaning process?
I should also probably add that she was sick a couple weeks ago and since then it had been a STRUGGLE to get her to eat any kind of solid food. She used to be so good at eating so I feel like I can’t wean when she is still struggling to eat anything.
Please any advice for a mama losing her mind over here 😩

I started with night weaning at 12 months! Then she started only nursing at wake up, before nap, and bedtime. Then she slowly weaned herself. She just finished self weaning this week🥹

I'm still breastfeeding at 14mo but I only do right before bedtime now. I weaned her from all over feeds. It too about 1 month to wean her off those and switch to her straw cup. She cried at first each time, but I was firm in offering the cup vs booby and explained that "mamas milkies need to rest now" eventually she stopped asking at those times, but she knows when it is time to nurse every night and it helps her sleep. I think this last one will be hard for her (and me)

Lynn how did she wean herself? Just curious? My little girl still cries for mamas milk before bedtime and I don't really see an end in sight on her end

@Kathy I second the firm cup offering! It made a huge difference. Started that with morning milk and added throughout the day! Once I was done night weaning, she was only nursing before naps and bed, and sometimes at wakeup. If she asked during the day I just kind of ignored it or offered a drink if she was persistent haha. The other night I offered her my milk, and she denied. She just snuggled into me. I let her snuggle for a bit, even against my chest, and she just stayed snuggling. Then the next night she didn't want it, so that was it! She just decided on her own that she was okay. I do give her a last big sip of whole milk before I take her to bed. That helped.

also, side note, dropping the last feed was EMOTIONAL for me because she did it all on her own. I wasn't quite ready🥺

I still Brestfeed my 14m old. I usually will start going down in feedings at 18 m but I normal go tell 2 unless they want to be done before.

My 14m old is still breastfeeding, she is obsessed with milk. Even getting her to cut down is a battle, so I havent tried weaning. Her friends both only nurse a few times a day now, but she would go every hour if I let her. You could could try a nipple shield? I used one when my little was a baby and I've debated doing it again when her top teeth came in.

I’m still breastfeeding my 14 month old. I want to let her self wean but I think 2 years old is my hard stop. It’s hard to tell if she’s close to self weaning because she comfort feeds when she’s teething and her molars are currently trying to break through
