Consultant Appointment

I have a consultant appointment today I’m 35 weeks pregnant with my first, I’m low risk and due to give birth in a midwife lead birth centre. I wasn’t told anything by my midwife last time I saw her that I have to see a consultant is this standard practice at 35 weeks?

What are your thoughts?

That’s odd, I’m just over 35 weeks, also low risk and hoping for a midwife lead birth unit birth and I’ve not heard anything about a consultant appointment? I have a standard midwife appointment on Monday (I’ll be just over 36 weeks) so might what something then? Xx

Hi Stacey, The letter says to see one of the consultants at the obstetric clinic (it’s at the same hospital I see my midwife but to see a doctor rather than midwife, I do have a midwife appointment 2 days after)xx

Hey! Usually you don’t have a consultant appointment unless there is something that needs closer monitoring wether that be yourself or baby, you could always ring them if your comfortable enough to and ask why you’re having to see a consultant , atleast this way it could give you some clarity xxxx

Hi Ellie! Yeah I always thought that with having a consultant that meant you are more high risk. But have always been low risk and midwife lead only, I will speak to them and see if it was a mistake!
Thank you xxx

I’ve got one booked in for early April as I’m in my 40s (?)

Just been to the appointment, they bring in a consultant for women to have a review (do not have to be high risk to have this review) just went through how my movements are, growth chart and scans that I’ve had it was really good!xx

Consultant led or seeing a consultant is for high risk. I was high risk in my last pregnancy and this and see a consultant (more regular) and midwife because of risks! Has anything flagged up? Xx

Yeah sorry didn’t write that well! My maternity unit brings in a consultant to review all women who are 4-5 weeks before their due date so even if you aren’t high risk or even if nothing has been flagged they still have a consultant come in and review your pregnancy ask how things are ect xx

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Baby names

My daughter‘s name is valentýna and I’m struggling to find other nice girl and boy names beginning with V I’ve got a few and I’ve got loads that aren’t beginning with V, but I feel like I wanna go for all vs and I also love girl and boys names that match so because my daughter’s name is valentýna I would love to call my son Valentino my husband does not agree 😃

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!
