Hospital bag

Tonight we packed bubs hospital bag, will be packing mine tomorrow. But just wondering how many sleepsuits/vests people are packing? We’ve packed 4 sleepsuits and 4 vests but one of my friends said she packed 6 and then had to go get more, so wondering if we’re under packing? Our hospital is very close to home so if we need to dash back to grab some bits we can or can get family to run it up, but ideally want to prevent any of that.
I can’t remember how much we packed last year for the birth of our son and we don’t have the list anymore 🤦🏼‍♀️

Was she in for a while?

I went in at 8/9pm having had them baby and was gone by 12pm the next day. One clothes change I think max two.

not really, she had baby at 2am and was discharged the following day in the evening lol xxx

Must have been some leaky nappies and lots of poo or sick?!

Avatar

I think 4 sounds more than enough?!
I remember my husband just went home at the end of visiting hours and bought back more of whatever we needed the next morning x

Avatar

yeh she just said she was sick quite a bit. We will stick with what we’ve packed and hopefully be ok 🤞🏻😂

I’ve packed 4, I think I packed 6 last time and only used 2 (2 day/night stay).
I’m going to put some extra aside at home so my husband can grab them & bring them in if needed

Avatar

I’ve packed 15 but I was in for 4 days last time and got through a lot and plus my husband ended up just grabbing everything and anything to top up supplies even though I’d given him specifics so I’m just overpacking this time x

Avatar

Oh and pack a spare carrier bag for the dirty stuff so you can keep it separate x

I think I've packed 3 vests and 3 sleepsuits in Newborn and 3 of each in up to 1 month, plus a coming home outfit in each size too.
I was in for 5 days last time but baby was in the incubator so couldn't even wear clothes!

Avatar

I’ll be doing 3 of each for baby as only live 1.5 miles from the hospital x

Avatar

oh yes good shout xx

Avatar

about the same distance as us from the hospital 😂

Avatar

I’ve got 3 newborn and a couple of 0-1 month sleepsuits. I’ve heard hospitals are hot so don’t think taking vests to go underneath is worth it?

Avatar

@Charlotte they will still need the layer, and for going home

Avatar

this is a good point, my midwife kept telling me to take baby’s clothes off as it was so hot in there! (Probably why we only got through 2 outfits)

Avatar

I’ve packed 3 or 4 newborn and 3 or 4 0-3 incase we have a bit baby!

Avatar

I'd say 3 or 4 would be enough. If you do end up in longer, at least you're not too far from home.

I followed the NHS guidelines on what to pack and packed 5 of each xx

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!

Anyone else’s owlet pi##ing them off ?!?! It goes off 5/6 a night saying it can’t get a reading and needs a snug fit. My baby is 8 months old so moves a lot. It is driving me insane and I keep end up taking it off!!
