Is anyone else's 10 month old not walking yet?

Yes evety baby is different and walks when their ready. I just wanna make sure mine isn't the only one.

How did you help encourage your little ones to walk? Mine walks when she has a hand to hold and she sometimes walks with her walker toy assistant thing. She also walks in her walker but is afraid to walk on her own.

You’re not alone! My girl hasn’t even attempted to yet

My baby is 10 months old and he stands just like this on everything but he’s not walking or standing on his own yet! No worries mama he will get there💙

Avatar

My daughter didn’t start walking till a little after 11 months old, but I’ve known others to have not walked till after their a year old

Avatar

My baby isn't walking either and he's 10 months. He'll just stand when leaned against something . !

Avatar

My son didn’t walk until 21 months..he was late but still not an issue and he’s all caught up now. 10 months is super young to be walking.

Avatar

We aren’t even close to walking and she is 11 months next week. Our doc says the window is up till 18mo for walking so we aren’t worried at all. Seems like so many people want to rush and I’ve decided to let it take its course for my own peace of mind. No one talks about the huge window there is for all their gross motor skills and wish it was talked about more.

Avatar

Not sure why this popped up on my feed but thought I’d chime in - I’m in the Jan 2023 group & someone posted a poll on this the other day. I think like 70% of our 13 month olds aren’t walking yet fyi!

Avatar

Nope mine doesn’t either! He stands and walks holding onto something but that’s about it.

Avatar

@Jennifer thank you! The window of walking age wasn't really made clear to me at our last appointment. She was hitting and exceeding milestones and development. She will be 11 months on Tuesday. Thank you for explaining it to me. It helps ease my mind a little more.

Avatar

My firstborn didn’t fully get walking down till 14-15 months… second son is 10 months not walking unassisted yet. It’s pretty young for them to be walking on their own.

Avatar

I didn’t walk until I was 15 months 😂 they’ll walk when they’re ready

Avatar

10 mo is really early for walking still.

Avatar

@Allie I was so worried because most of the grandparents and other Littles in our life is blabbing about how early their grandkids or Littles started walking and I just felt like maybe my little was behind. The age group of this milestone is vastly changing and I had no idea as my last little was 12 years ago and honestly I can't even remember when she was walking by because she was always on the move after (I honestly want to say it was by 15 or 18 months)

Avatar

Mine is almost 11 months and still isn’t walking

Avatar

My baby is going to be 11 months on the 8th and she’s not walking! 🤍

Avatar

10 months is early to walk. Average is about 12 months, but could be much later too, as others have said. Encourage standing play (putting items on the couch for them to reach for), bare feet when possible helps them grip the floor

Avatar

Thank you all so much for these comments!!!

Avatar

she’s taking a few steps but only on beds, she’s not comfortable on the floor yet. Idk if she’s scared of it’s the texture of the rug.

Avatar

My 10 month old just started crawling, he was held too much, he stands alone but not steps yet.

Avatar

Mine hasn’t walked yet

Avatar

My baby is 10 months old and she's not walking either she stands with holding onto something and sometimes walks if im holding her hands. But she doesn't stand on her own yet

Avatar

My baby girl is the same!

Avatar

my boy was ready to walk at 10 mths but he just needed to gain confidence… the week he turned one he said ok enough and just started taking a few steps and i cheered him in so he kept going back n forth taking 4-5 steps .. next day was literally walking down the hallway !!

Avatar

don’t worry when he’s ready he’ll take off !

Avatar

My son is also turning 11 months on Tuesday! He’ll stand by himself for a few seconds and he’s walking along furniture. My daughter started walking around 12 months. My mom said my older brother walked at 9 months, my little brother at 12 months, and I didn’t walk until 15 months!

Avatar

He's not off. I think babies now start a bit later bc we all carry them so often. Back then they threw us to the wolf's so we walked early. I've personally seen babies 12 months still. Crawling so don't worry! You're doing great

Avatar

Also enjoy this time while you still have it 😅🤣

Avatar

It’s not normal for babies to walk before they turn 1, so don’t worry. I worked in a daycare for over 7 years and work with kids now and I’d say only about 20% walk at this age. Some don’t even walk until closer to 15 months.

Avatar

my daughter didnt start walking until she was 22 months old. Was one very worried mama, but shes all fine now :)

Avatar

my boy has been walking since he was 9 months 😭

Avatar

Mine is 11 and still not walking

Avatar

I would also say enjoy the not walking while you can, kids grow up so fast and it’s nice when some things take more time to come in. I’m not ready for the toddler stage yet so I’m perfectly okay with my daughter not walking yet lol.

Avatar

My 10 month old ain't walking yet

Avatar

My six month is walking

Avatar

unassisted?

Avatar

My daughter is about to be 11 months in a week and won’t walk independently … she will let go of things and stand independently but when it comes to moving she will sit down and then crawl and stand back up.

Avatar

how did you get him to ?

Avatar

Only holding on to furniture. We thought she was going to walk really early because she so desperately wanted to be mobile but since she started crawling, walking kind of went on the back burner.

Avatar

he just kinda started doing it by himself lol but he’s also been pulling himself up to stand on things since he was 7 months. he does have one of those push walkers but he didn’t really use it much. pretty much just let him explore and one day he was brave enough to let go of the coffee table

Avatar

Mine is 13 months not walking, butt scoot all day 😂 just started that a couple of days ago

Avatar

My 16 month old is not walking yet 🤦🏽‍♀️

Avatar

good to know we’re not the only ones!! They all get there in their own time, I think he was just happy enough crawling about and a little bit lazy! I have a 2 week old now, interested to see if he’s going to be the same

Avatar

ah yeah! Each kid is totally different. We have a 5 months old as well, but I think she will go sooner than her sister lol 🫣

Avatar

My boys started walking at 13 and 15 months. Trust me when I say there's no rush lol

Avatar

Mine didn’t walk until he was 14 months old

Avatar

Mine is about to be 11 months in 3 days and she still isn’t walking without having to hold onto something

Avatar

I’d say walking isn’t such an important goal at this age. My older one was so focused on it and started really early but mostly skipped crawling. That can lead to other issues later with coordination and balance and they’re saying crawling and reaching is important. My younger one is just crawling and I’m enjoying this phase. I honestly hope he doesn’t start walking until after his first birthday.

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
