Nursery free hours

You can apply from September as it’s for 9 month olds from September. If they aren’t in nursery already then you probably want to get him enrolled sooner rather than later as nurseries are over subscribed as a result of the free funding.

Also, the funding is only for term time. So you would either need to spread out the funding through the year or pay during school holidays (depends on the nursery).

You will be able to claim by January as that is the next term after your child’s second birthday. No you don’t have to use all the hours. Also it’s worth chatting with different nurseries in your area to see how they apply the funding. As it isn’t completely free. For example at my setting my daughter attends 2 days a week. She can claim 6 hours a day funded so that will be 12 hours across the two days. I then pay for the additional 8 hours. X

I think you both have to work but I’m sure there’s already 15 hours funded places for 2 year olds where neither parent works. I’m not sure if there’s any funding available for families where one parent works and one doesn’t xx

The nursery I will be putting my son in, is saying Jan start

You can apply for 9 month + funding 15 hours for 38 weeks of the year for september, you'd then have to apply for 2 year funding for the 15 hours as of January the term after their 2nd birthday.

Sorry to jump on I have twins who are 15 months but my partner works and I don’t will we qualify I more want it for the twins to have social skills and be able to learn different things. X
