Sleeping with mouth open

Hey!

My son, (5wks) keeps sleeping with his mouth open and every time I push his chin up to close, he ends up opening up again after few mins.

I thought it could be that he is congested and I keep his clean too but I'm unsure what or if anything could be blocking his airway..

Pls advise x

My baby does this , was told to close her mouth . As baby shouldn’t be breathing through the mouth .. not a clue xx

My son sometimes sleeps with his mouth open too, but if i feel he is still breathing out his nose. I think he is just like his daddy and catches flies in his sleep 😂

My baby is 8 weeks old and still does this - lactation consultant told us it’s because her tongue is big! As she’s grown she’s started closing her mouth a bit more but still mostly open and when we close it she just opens again. Has he done it from birth? Could be a similar thing but maybe worth getting HV opinion x

Babies don’t know how to breath through their mouths. Even if they sleep with open mouth they are breathing through their nose

I thought the exact same because sometimes I do feel a bit of air coming through his nose whilst his mouth is slightly open.. however it's still concerning 😟

thank you, yes, not as much since birth but justlast week I've noticed it more and more. I have his 6 weeks check in appointment next week Monday so will speak with the doctor and see.

I didn’t even know this was a problem? Is it? 🤷‍♀️

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.

Bedtime routine

I have a 12 week old and we struggle to get him to sleep in his next to me crib or Moses basket, so he sleeps in bed with us which means we’re struggling to have a bedtime routine as he won’t sleep till i go to bed with him.
Any suggestions please as he doesn’t sleep till around 11/12
