My baby is 8 weeks old and exclusively breastfeeding and it’s been hard at times especially with cluster feeding. Today my mum come over to see her and I’m feeling a bit woozy because baby been feeding lots all day and forgot to eat and the first thing my mum says is to top up with formula to stop the cluster feeding and make more time to look after myself and tbh I flipped and said it’s not helpful to say that stuff because it’s hard enough breastfeeding and my choice is to not give formula and it blew up into a massive argument. Am I wrong for being so angry about it? My view is that if I started giving formula I’m more likely to give in with breastfeeding altogether when it gets tough and I really don’t want to

You’re not wrong, it’s hard enough and comments like that almost negate all the effort you make to do what’s best for your child. I don’t care what anyone says, breast is best and that’s fact. Remember though that the previous generation has experienced formula as this revolutionary thing that was marketed as better than breastfeeding at the time it came out.
There is good facebook groups that support breastfeeding, it helps massively to be a part of a community like that. Literally everyone has stories like yours so it feels less lonely in a way.
The 8 week growth spirt was hard for me too, but hang in there you’re doing what’s best for your child xx

I’d say you’re not wrong but perhaps your mum was worried about you. It can be very easy to take things very personally at this time. Perhaps you could ask her to help you by making you some food? Sounds like she is concerned - and your mum is right that you are important too. Be kind to yourself, it’s tough :)

She’s only trying to help i think give her a break :) she isnt responsible for your opinion. However if you say thats not how id like to do things then that should be the end of it, no discussion
