Wake window ideas

Hi All my LO is 9.5 weeks, sleeps really well at night (a 5-7 hour stretch, followed by a 3-4 hour) but that means she is awake lots in the day, she’ll have 30-40 minute naps and is wide awake 1.5-2 hours at a time, before I can even think about trying to get her back to sleep.
I’m just looking for age appropriate wake window ideas, she hates lying under her baby gym, she’ll do probably max 10 mins a day, we do tummy time, but again she’s not a fan. She loves just sitting and chatting with me face to face and reading books, we probably read 6 a day.
I’m open to all ideas please

I like to put my baby in his rocker (bouncer), play some of my favourite fun songs, dance along, and encourage him to dance too - which he does by kicking his legs, waving his arms, smiling and cooing.

Have you tried a foil blanket? My LO loves it, spends about half an hour on it, also likes bubbles and wrist rattles 😊

Weve got a baby sensory bag which we loves, listening to music, chatting to each other, house tours, joint staring at the ceiling light/fan, changing her clothes/nappy in Edna mode voice, holding her on my arm (so shes on her tummy) and flying her around the house, short walks outside (in sling as she will not lie down), reading stories and watching disney films (she lasts about 24 mins)

My LO is almost 10weeks. He’s the same & didn’t tolerate tummy time or laying under a baby gym. Then I used a boppy pillow (I interchange between flat & use of the pillow) with a high contrast book or mirror. He loves both, particularly the mirror in tummy time with the pillow as I think he sees another baby currently and doesn’t recognise himself. He lasts 6mins tummy time (x4-5 times in the day). My LO has the same sleep routine as yours. He also loves just chatting and having books/singing time. You’re doing great!

Put a cushion inside a plastic bag (and any other fun textures lay them against the cushion) and prop it up and let her kick it barefoot. Amazing for their sensory development.

Walks in the baby carrier

I lay her so her back is on My thighs and bum on my tummy and we sing “this is big big big” (amazing song for language development)
Or I just talk to her about the day we have planned.

We also do some baby exercises/stretches as part of her wake window on a morning and this s her more tolerable of being laid down for later wake windows

1st window we do nappy free time, wipe down, chatting as she’s laid. Get dressed in clean outfit. Practice stretches and exercises. I tell her about the plan for the day. The she’s ready for bed
2nd window tends to be outdoor time.
3rd window we do a big play in the play gym. Tummy time. Time on back. She usually independent plays for 20 mins here.
Similar with fourth but it’s usually something sensory. Barefoot kicking textures, feathers, black and white cards etc. (depending on if having 4 or 5 naps then I might do just books and chatting and just hanging out)
Last window before bed is bath time massage books and sleep

Same here! My baby used to sleep great at night (7 hour stretches) but barely napped during the day (max 30 min naps with 2 hour wake windows) so I started doing contact naps to help her get proper rest as my health visitor said it’s important the first months for her brain development to have 2 hour naps during the day. It worked overall, but now she doesn’t sleep through the night like before and wakes up every 3,5 hours to feed.

It honestly feels like if she sleeps well during the day, you end up paying for it at night. But I have to say she seems a lot happier since she rests more.

For the breastfeeding moms

What drink should I choose instead of soda? I’ve been drinking a lot of soda and sometimes water, but I want something bubbly to drink while breastfeeding. I don’t like seltzer water or flavored versions. Please help me find a drink.

Anyone else's baby NOT sleeping through the night?

I would never have expected this, but I am seeing so many comments from mums saying that their baby sleeps through the night. It can't just be my baby who is waking up every 1-2 hours? Please say I am not alone...

Sleeping bags

My newborn hates a swaddle of the love to dream swaddle. So was thinking of a sleeping bag.

What tog do you have your baby in that is always a warm baby, rarely cold?
My girl runs hot all the time and normally has a thin blanket on but she is constantly moving so it gets kicked off

Don't know what to do

Hey im a first time mom to my baby girl. she is 20 days old and last night was up most the night. I've had 2 hours sleep total im so tired but she won't sleep at all. She will wake up and have some of a bottle and then when I put her down after burping her she will start crying half an hour later for more. She's on 6 ounces of hungry baby formula. Im just not sure why this is happening. Could it be sleep regression?

Regression struggles

My baby has woken up upwards of 8 times already tonight. Nothing works. I am mentally and physically exhausted. This is week 3 of this and every night is worst than the last. Feeding doesn’t work, rocking works until I try to lie him down, co sleeping doesn’t work. He has a dummy but cannot keep it in his mouth so I have to hold it in. I tried to take it away a few nights ago but he screamed for 3 hours until I gave in.

All day all I think about is how horrific night time will be. I don’t enjoy any of being a mum as I’m consumed by how exhausted I am and how this will only get worse.
