Put kids in private school or state school

Hi! I went to both private and state school as a child. I really think it comes down to the school and set up- I much preferred state school as an experience however felt I lacked support in areas I naturally excelled in state school that could have been nurtured more into something as an adult ie. Sport, music etc.

My philosophy for my own children has always been that I’ll put them in the private system if they display a particular interest or skill set that will make the money worthwhile for them. I went to a private primary school and found it incredible daunting, however my peers were much wealthier than my family so there was a bit of class divide as well outside of school x

thanks for the insight.. I never thought about the class divide outside school. We definitely arnt rich so would be working to put the kid in private school. I agree with what your saying regarding state school lacking the nurturing capacity, and that’s one reason that pushes me to private because even at such a young age my little girl is way past her peers and I’d hate for her talents to go to waste or be ignored in state schools. I guess it also depends on the area of the stage school. If it’s in a roughy council estate in Manchester then state school would not be an option but if it was in somewhere like Altrincham then I’d be more on board with state school
