C-section shelf - disappearing vs not

There seems to be so many diff experiences relating to the C-section shelf/overhang. My midwife is confident mine will disappear at 6-weeks, but I'm not convinced. Interested in how many of you had a shelf post c section and it just went away after a while? I'm doing the massages and walking every day, but unsure whether it's more luck vs the result of something you do or don't do?

Mine disappeared by itself. Took a bit longer than 6 weeks. I can’t remember how long, but I am 9months PP and it is all gone x

I go gym everyday and still have a little one think it might be there to stay I can only keep it as small as possible

I think it's down to body shape as well. I'm a size 20 and by six weeks was back to my pre pregnancy weight and the swelling on my stomach was gone. But I still have a pouch but that's due to my size I think x

Mine hasn't gone 22 months on but thinking I may have diastisis recti. But prior to having my son I always had a flat stomach so was shocked at how much my stomach has changed.

Mine was fairly fast to disappear, a few weeks.
Didn’t do anything special to help it along.
my scars annoying though as half has almost completely disappeared & the other side you can see. x

What is the shelf? Idk if I have it or not, I’m just fat 🙃 I gained a lot during pregnancy

Omg I have a shelf like that too! Why does that happen

I think a lot has to do with weight obviously but also how the scar heals massively affects it as even slimmer people can get the overhang. If the scar gets adhesions or feels tight to the body I think you’re more likely to have an overhang. I don’t think there is too much that can be done, apparently c section scar massage works well to release tight scars. Personally I think it takes a lot longer than 6 weeks. I’m 16 months post op and body is still changing and looks drastically different than 6 weeks pp

Yes I am quiet slim but still have one but it’s getting more toned with exercise and diet
