Hi ladies,
My LG is currently 5 1/2 months, she’s been EBF until tonight, 50/50 split between direct BF and expressed milk but today I’ve found myself so ill, I’ve been in bed most of the evening with OH taking care of baba.
My question is, is it too late to be able to give her a formula feed tonight so I can carry on sleeping and resting? I don’t want to upset her stomach but at the minute I’m so achy and feverish I don’t think I can face getting up for her last feed of the day.

If you’ve got some expressed milk you could make the formula up then mix it with some breast milk so it’s not complete formula.
But if you don’t have any then I’m sure baby will be fine, my boy had to have formula a few months ago as I ended up in hospital and didn’t have enough pumped milk for him and he seemed to be fine with it.
Hope you feel better soon x

If you've never done formula with LO before then i would suggest trying to do part expressed and part formula if you can. The formula will taste different to your supply so mixing it will maximise chance of LO accepting it.
Other than that there is basically no time that's too late to change for formula as required. If you are only needing a handful of feeds then it may not be worth getting a whole tin and just getting the more expensive pre-mixed bottles, purely because you don't want the open tin to go off and then you need to dump it all (you could offer leftovers to someone else of course).

When I was super ill over Christmas I was advised to have my husband bring the baby to me and still breastfeed on demand as my body was creating the antibodies that then got transferred to the baby so if he got ill he’d already have a way to fight it and it wouldn’t be as serious which is what ended up happening
