Hey all how do you guys cope with feeling lonely? I feel like I do have some mum friends but they are only interested for a walk and talk or play date or a voice note to ask for advice. I’ve got to try so hard to get a play date at someone’s house and it’s not weekly and very inconsistent.
My partner (we have a 19 month old together) has a very organised sister (we don’t really see eye to eye) and for Easter she’s arranged for them to all go out to basically get pissed in a eat and drink all you want.
My partner has invited me and said his sister could try to find a more baby friendly drink all you want place but then I wouldn’t have fun as I would just be having mocktail and keeping an eye on our child whilst they get drunk. I could go to my family on the same day but it’s not a break - the space is small and my toddler just wants to run and there isn’t the space to do that. So I’m just going to invite on the same day my side of the family as it’s just too much for me to be always travelling to see them as it feels like more recently and spending 2-3 hours commuting and preparing for it.
How do you guys embrace the loneliness as I keep actively fighting it but know she won’t be this young for long and needing me as much but as an older mum (40) I’m desperately trying to not loose myself as I’m a sociable person who does do things and go mum groups but I just don’t have friends in the way my heart feels I need them - to be able to go around there house and then to come to mine for a cuppa - it always feels forced and not natural and I’m just worried that if I have another child that I’ll have friends with younger babies and there won’t be anyone my child’s age (as the age chap is likely going to be 3-4 years).
Sorry for the ramble it’s just something really bothering me - I myself am a lonely child and my family just seem to be living there life and not offering much help. When I first had her I wanted to do it all but they haven’t offered help since her being under 6 months - I didn’t take it at the time.

Hey that’s such a good idea! What brings me joy is other animals (cats and dogs) but I can’t have any due to partners allergies and it frustrates me watching them on TV! I always said I’ll volunteer one day to do walks!

Gutted we’re not closer! I feel the same and we have things in common xx

thanks and cheers to be over 40! Yeh your so right in reconnecting with family - I try like Mother’s Day I went around but it feels like I’m doing all the work so someone suggested next time to just throw something st my house and they should travel - I think as my baby is now a toddler I don’t know how much I can use the excuse of - I’ve got a baby 🤣🤣
I just told my SO the babysitter idea but then he just brought up that I was invited - where one option was kid friendly - he doesn’t get that as it’s a brunch and the way he explained it - I felt like an afterthought but I’m trying my hardest to switch my mindset to just like being at home more as it’s him missing out on the moments - but I do like to socialise given the opportunity!
I’m now learning to speak of what I want - although he loves saying I’m being tit-for-tat - I think his missing the point that I deserve to go out too!! 🤣

aww same here it would be a cool place to just hang out with other mums too! Xx
