Emotional before C-Section

I have an elective c-section booked for tomorrow and tonight I am super emotional. It’s like a wave of fear and nerves has just come over me, I feel sad about not being pregnant anymore and missing my bump and I also had a miscarriage early last year which I keep thinking about too. Then at the same time I’m excited to meet my baby tomorrow. Please tell me I’m not the only one to feel like this as I’ve sat on my bed for the last 30 minutes sobbing 😢

I think it’s totally normal to feel this way! Your hormones will be all over the place afterwards too, as with any birth. Just be kind to yourself and allow yourself to cry when you need to, it’s okay and doesn’t mean anything negative. You’ve got this! I hope it all goes well tomorrow 🙏🏼💕 xxx

I had a major meltdown before my c section! I was so excited and knew it was exactly what I wanted and thought I was so prepared and ready to be done with pregnancy but the day before I lost it!
I was so emotional, scared, just freaking out! But everything was absolutely amazing! Every now and then I think about being pregnant and how great it was but most of the time I don’t even think about it! You are entering a new stage completely different but just as amazing- if not more!
You will be absolutely fine and everything will be amazing! As soon as you see your baby you will completely forget about everything you were worried about! ❤️

You are not alone in feeling this way, completely natural, normal and understandable considering what you have gone through and the journey you are about to start.
Mine was an emergency c-section 5 weeks ago so didn’t have time to think about what was to come, but didn’t stop me fearing birth and a new way of life. I got really upset post birth about not being pregnant and missing that connection with bump.
My advise would be, do something you love tonight (bath, favourite movie, favourite music) enjoy your final night as YOU and with bump.
Post birth, be kind to yourself and take it easy - it will be an emotional rollercoaster with the hormones but it is amazing!
Good luck, and congratulations!

It’s a super emotional time! It’s very normal to feel this way.

I loved my bump, never felt so good about my body as I did when I was pregnant. But once babe is here you’re so full of all consuming love for them, and so flippin’ tired you won’t even think about it.

Not to say you won’t be emotional after the birth because you will, but you’ll be so focused on this next chapter.

You’ve got this mamma!

I felt exactly the same before my elective section. In my first pregnancy I had an emergency section and really struggled post birth and still struggled to talk about it nearly 3 years later. I then had my elective section 5 weeks ago and it was honestly the most amazing experience. I felt so apprehensive the night before and all morning. I did get emotional when I got into theatre but as soon as the spinal was in I totally relaxed and had such a lovely birth. I look back and wish I had been able to enjoy the night before and the morning because there was really nothing to worry about, so try and enjoy the last few hours!

Thank you everyone. I think it’s just a mixture of a very sudden, final ending to my pregnancy and new beginnings but it’s all unknown x

You aren’t alone. Even though I knew birth was coming, the hours before I was just suddenly not ready. I felt very young and wanted her to stay in there.

I had a few wobbles in the weeks after she was born, missed my pregnancy and was worried if I would be good enough for her.

I felt the same, I was really sad about my pregnancy ending, I still feel a little sad about it 8 weeks on but I have to remind myself the purpose of the pregnancy is to have the baby. I think having a planned section brings it home your pregnancy is ending but once you have the baby in your arms you’ll be pre occupied with that

this is sort of how I am feeling now. Just worried I won’t be good enough.

trust me, you are already all that baby needs and more. You’re going to be amazing!

The best of luck tomorrow, it’ll fly by and in 10 mins you’ll have that baby in your arms xx

Just to update you all. The planned c-section was absolutely fine. I was worried about nothing! Don’t get me wrong, it was intense but it was amazing. I had my own music playing, the surgery team were all sooo lovely, my husband still cut the cord and I got immediate skin to skin. I am home now from the hospital and so in love with our little boy 🩵

so happy to hear this! Well done and congratulations. Wow, home on the same day!? I didn’t think that was an option. The positivity in how it went really gives me some courage for my turn in a few weeks lol. Did you walk into the theatre or do they wheel you in? I feel like I will pass out if I walk there from fear haha x

Avatar

no I had the section yesterday and came home today. Was only in for 24 hours though. I walked into the theatre xx

ooooh I was going to say 😂 sorry my days are all rolling into one. Wishing you a speedy recovery! X

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
