My 9.5mo keeps shaking her head… my brain automatically goes to ASD 😅 also open and closes her hands ALOT!
Anyone else’s bub do this?

My daughter did this too! Like a really fast shudder but just the head and slightly shoulders? She outgrew it though, I know my friends son did it as well and I put it down to a developmental thing

My daughter went through a phase of doing that grew out of it after maybe a month or so, I did the same thing though straight to googling ASD and other things but she’s stopped doing it now so I’m going with it was just a phase and nothing to worry about 😂♥️

My son shakes his head too. He thinks it's hilarious 😂 , so do his grandparents. I'm thinking it's developmental. But all you can do is keep any eye on things and not worry about ASD just yet.

My 10 month old does it and I think it’s super cute :D not worried.

They all do it! Mine still does it for fun at 23mths! Just them learning to control their neck and hands etc and it’s funny! And totally NORMAL developmentally for bubs!
ASD cannot be diagnosed until much later on in life and would need a much larger pool of symptoms to be even close to being on the map. Plus tbh I wouldn’t worry about it unless it happened, nothing can change it if ASD is present and we could all do without the extra worry as mums!

This a common developmental milestone. Like excessive hand/arm shaking, head shaking is often mistaken for early indication of ASD. Your little one is just exploring how their body works and what happens and what it feels like to shake their head.
If it is something that continues into childhood (2/3 years old unless other signs show earlier) I would then consider checking for ASD. However, a 3 year old shaking their head is also a milestone for learning emotions and communicating them. So unless you feel there are other indicators of ASD, enjoy the cute little head shakes!!

So ive noticed my bub doing this a bit and went down a rabbit hole on google. Apparently slight shake could be them peeing lol yes they realise they are peeing and do like a shiver.
