So I had my booking appointment this morning and everyone is very confused about dating me. My lmp was 16th January but I didn’t ovulate until the 26th February where I then conceived so makes 41 day cycle. However they have my due date down as the 23 October, making me 9 weeks, whereas the NHS calculator says I’m 7 weeks and 3 days yet my conception I am 5 weeks and 3 days. Is it worth going for a private scan to date me properly?

I would x

I would just wait for my 12 week scan with the nhs. It’s a week difference here or there as far as your due date (which is an estimation whether it’s done by dates or scan) it’s not going to change anything whether you’re 9 weeks or 5 weeks so I’d save my money and wait to go for the 12 week scan and go from there.

I’m only thinking about a private scan as my midwife said they would then change my due date based on the results of the scan. I swing of 4 weeks does make a big difference in terms of the 10 week blood tests and the 12 week scan to be fair!

I missed the bit in your post about the 5 weeks 😵💫… yes 4 weeks is a bit different (sorry tired pregnant brain not taking in all the info)
Couldn’t hurt to get a private scan in that case, you will know what’s what then and know all your tests and scans will be at the right time x

If you know when you conceived then I’d go with that date and add two weeks on

I suppose if they’re saying you’re 9 weeks now (even though you know it’s more like 5 weeks) then you’ll be offered your ‘12 week scan’ in about 3 weeks and at that point they will adjust your due date.

So the due date they have down is based on your LMP. We have to go by that in the nhs purely to cover our own butt! That will be yoyr estimated date until proven otherwise on an NHS scan (even if you have a private scan they won’t change it). It is easy to bring you back for screening if you’re too early but we can’t turn back the clock if your too late and miss something

I think let them book you in for 12 weeks in 3 weeks time. They'll then realise you're not that far along and book you for another when you're actually 12 weeks. And all for free without having to pay to go private

I would. My due date based on my LMP made me 8 weeks but I knew I ovulated later so I got a private scan and was only measuring 5 weeks! My 12 week scan is already booked so I’m unsure what will happen with that as I’ll only be 9 weeks X

I’m very similar, my LMP was 13th Jan but didn’t ovulate until 15th Feb. So I think I’m 7+1 based on conception date but based on LMP I’m 9 weeks. I don’t have my booking apt for another 2 weeks so I’m just going to wait for my NHS scan and if it’s too early they will make another apt

You could for your own clarity. But the NHS won't use a private scan date- just their own scan date.
