Car seats 🚗

What car seats is everyone using please, as the one I’ve been using is getting too small for my little boy now. I see everywhere that they should still be rear facing but all the seats I see online for his size are forward facing? Sorry if I’m being silly for asking this ☺️

Perhaps buy a 360! That way you can use it for when they’re rear facing as well as forward facing and you get more use out of it!

I’ve got the 360 and really like it x

We have the Joie iProdigy. It's one of two only rear facing seats with isofix that are suitable up to 22.5kg or 125cm and it's Swedish Plus tested which is the highest standard safety testing in the world. Most other ERF seats tend to be with seatbelt and tethers but we needed something easy to move between several cars so isofix was important and we also wanted one that would last him a long time. Some other brands that do ERF that last a long time would be Axkid, BeSafe, Britax.
If choosing a seat that both rear and forward faces, be aware that they might have a weight limit for the 5 point harness and if your child outgrows that they need to forward face with the cars seatbelt, so just make sure the maximum weight/height limit of the seat is the same as the limit for the 5 point harness also.

This is a good group to join on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/carseatsafetyuk/?ref=share

I have a 360 that goes up to 36kg, it’s worth looking around

Avatar

yes but once your baby is 18 kg you have no choice but to forward face and use the car seat belt because although the seat itself has a limit of 36kg, the 5 point harness only allows up to 18kg. Most retailers who don't specialise in ERF will not care to tell you this as long as they can sell you a seat

Avatar

I know, I don’t see what the issue is with that for the original post her son is only 16 months

Avatar

Thankyou everyone, he’s about 11kg, all the seats I looked at said they were only re facing until 15 months, but I’ll have a look at these suggested ☺️x

Avatar

not sure why you’re having a go at me for this, I simply answered her question

Avatar

Thankyou that’s really helpful!

my son is only 9kg, he is on the smaller side and has been since birth. Maybe don’t assume that I don’t have the right car seat as I done my research before buying

Avatar

not having a go at all! But it's important to be aware of this. Someone reading your comment will think great I'll get that seat, and if their child is already over 18kg they will be stuck with a seat that only allows for car seatbelt when their child is still too young for it. And again, not having a go, simply stating that most retailers will leave that bit out too which can be misleading

Avatar

I’ll look into this Thankyou

We have the avionaut sky q for our LG x

thank you - really good advice. Even the people in JL didn’t spell this out to me!!!

Can’t believe seats can be casually mis-sold like this

Join car seat safety uk on Facebook. They will advise you based on your child’s weight, budget, centile, car etc. we have a britax max way plus and will be rear facing as long as possible personal choice ☺️

unfortunately what is permitted under car seat laws here is extremely unsafe 😔

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵
