Boob and breastfeeding help

Hi, I have 2 other babies and am 16 weeks pregnant with my 3rd tomorrow.
This will be the first baby I will be attempting to breastfeed, this will be my last baby and I felt like I would regret it if I didn't at least try .

My first baby ,milk didn't come in until a bout 4 days after having him

My 2nd , milk came in quite early at 25/26 weeks .

I am at 16 weeks now and my boobs are so sore and actually feel a little hard at the bottom .

My first question is there anything that helps with the soreness for now

My 2nd question is , because it probably will happen, if my milk comes in early again ,did I pump to keep my milk coming in until baby arrives ?

1st Q- it’s the hormones hun nothing you can really do mah r hot or cold compress

2nd-before your milk comes in you have colostrum which is liquid gold for the baby’s so that’s what baby gets first until the milk comes in. My 1st child I expressed and then went to formula around 3months

My second bad milk allergy so had prescribed milk

My third is 7months and only breast fed and I was like you wanting to as she’s my last child and it’s gone great at the beginning I felt like is she getting any when we was in the hospital but I just kept going and going and it’s honestly great x

Your milk supply wont drop while pregnant, your “actual” milk comes in around day 3-5 after birth, in pregnancy and before that you produce colostrum which should be left alone till 37 weeks where you can start harvesting colostrum incase of any issues after birth if you wish, not any earlier as it can put you into labour (and im proof of this 🤣 waters broke after my first time doing so at 37 weeks and instant contractions!)

Nothing you do in pregnancy influences your milk supply. Your body will produce colostrum during pregnancy, sometimes you'll leak others you won't (I leaked colostrum with my first but not my second. This has no impact on milk supply I've exclusively breastfed them both)

Birthing the placenta is what triggers your milk to come in. Before your milk comes in colostrum is enough for your baby. Just keep latching baby, and your body will get the message, there's no need to pump.

It's not recommended that you pump in the first six weeks postpartum unless you have issues such as low supply (which is very rare) you don't need to pump to build supply, feeding your baby at the breast will build your supply. If you pump as well this will tell your body that you need more milk than the baby is drinking, which will cause an over supply. An over supply is not good, it leads to issues such as blocked ducts and mastitis

Breastfeeding is hard. Cluster feeding is intense. But you really have to trust the process.

Be mindful they are sharing generic information and not tailored advice, but there's a wealth of information there. Honestly learning as much as you can about breastfeeding now will help when baby comes. I'd also suggest finding out what feeding support is available to you locally - support groups, lactation consultants etc

As for pain now, perhaps lymphatic massage might help. This is something that is recommended for engorgement (what you'll experience when your milk comes in). Engorgement is temporary, your boobs will feel soft again once your supply regulates, it doesn't mean you have low supply. Soft boobs are happy boobs

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
