Diapers

What’s the average diaper use? Like how many will be used a day/week/monthly?? I was told that 80 diapers would last for an entire month and I don’t see that being relatively true at all.

A diaper change every 2-3 hours, so 8-12 diapers a day. At least 240 a month.

My nephew is 2 (currently potty training) and we go through about 150 a month with him.

Thank you ladies. I want to be prepared! How often do babies stay in the newborn diapers?

Avatar

My baby outgrew newborn diapers by around 3-4 weeks (she was born at 8 lb 11 oz), we were in ones up until 11 weeks and currently in twos now!

Avatar

We had 2 small packs of newborn diapers from the hospital (about 20 total), one large box of 120ish and one smaller box of newborns (80ish)!

My LO skipped newborn diapers altogether. I don’t think I even know anyone who used newborn diapers, so I would suggest not having too big a stock! But it will also gradually decrease as they age. Start with the expectation of 8-12 per day, not including any tummy ache days or blowouts. My LO is 2 now and she goes through 4-5 but is also sporadically potty training. Hope this helps mama!

Right now at 4 months (in size 3 if that matters) a box of 210 diapers lasts about 2-3 weeks

Mine was in NB for a day and we decided they were too snug. Size 1 for about 3 weeks, size 2 for about a month, and then on size 3 now. My first son was in NB for maybe a week, size 1 for a month or two, 2 for a few months, size 3 for maybe 6 months, and has been in size 4 from about a year old until now (2y4m)

mine was in newborn diapers for about 2-3 months, she left the hospital at 5lbs 15oz

Mine was in newborn for a few months. Was 5lb 3 oz when left hospital.
Still about 8 diapers a day we are 9 months old.

My son (22months) and daughter (6months) both get about a minimum 10 diaper changes a day, for my son his box of diapers has 128 and my daughters has 164 and they last us about 3 weeks

Scary isn’t it these numbers! And they all go to look landfill 😔

I tried to be green and use reuseable but it just wasn’t practical!

You use up to 1000 diapers in only the first 3m. An average of 6500-7000 by the time they’ve toilet trained. One of the many reasons why I use cloth diapers and cloth wipes (wipes is estimated ~22,000 in 3yrs) I only had a stash of 80 cloth diapers and 70 cloth wipes which the wipes I’m still using 4yrs PP and the diapers I can reuse for the next baby IF I had a next baby, can usually service 3 babies

depends what size baby is my baby is 5 weeks and still in there but was only 6lb 7

Avatar

Mine was in newborn for about 3 months. Around 3 months we switched to size one. She’s 4 1/2 months and still in size one. Diaper changes about every 2-3 hours. When they are newborns they poop more frequently so the diaper changes and blow outs were also more frequent as now she only poops every couple days.

Should I be concerned or am I overthinking?

My little boy is 15 months old, he’s recently taken his first steps and he says mamma and dadda and baba (he has said these for months) we’ve filled out the paperwork for his 12-14 month review and it looks like he isn’t meeting many of his milestones.

He doesn’t copy actions, point, clap etc. He doesn’t react when being spoken to, or to his name. He actively avoids eye contact.

He was so unresponsive to sound that we just had his hearing tested concerned he was deaf. They found that he could hear so he is just choosing not to react to any noises or sounds.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with their little ones? Should I be raising this with the health visitor and ask to be assessed for neurodivergent issue or a social communication problem like autism?

I don’t want to just slap a label on him, but I do feel that there are real concerns. All opinions welcome!!

Routines?

When did you start to introduce your baby’s routine? Do they just have a night routine or full day routine? Wondering when I should start this e.g naps at the same time everyday.

Any routines you have that work for you, please let me know them with timestamps. my baby is 6 weeks and just wondering when we should start them?

Does anyone else’s baby spit up breastmilk but not formula?

I’m seriously considering seeing a lactation consultant because I don’t understand why he can’t hold down breastmilk but can formula. I use soy formula since I’ve used it with my daughter and I’m thinking it might be due to not getting milk coming in for a few days so I had no choice but to give him formula, but now even if I take breaks in between feeding him breastmilk to burp or try to mix breastmilk and formula, he spits it up sooo much. I’m ready to just give him just formula because I’m worried about him not eating enough

Bed time tips for 8 week old

So I literally cannot get my 8 week down to sleep before 11:30pm every night no matter how early we start our routine. We tend to do bath every second night but every night consists of feed, up to bed, into pjs, book, feed to sleep. We could start this routine at 7 and it would still be the case of not selling til 11:30.

She doesn’t nap during the day well, we get a 30 minute in the morning, and a 1 hour in the afternoon only if I’m out the house. She’s never distressed when she’s awake all that time, quite the thing being nosey and having cuddles. She’s EBF and her feeds all through the day are LONG and last from 30-45 mins each feed.

Any tips/advice recommended on how to get to bed earlier or just how to get her to sleep in general.
