I’m seriously considering seeing a lactation consultant because I don’t understand why he can’t hold down breastmilk but can formula. I use soy formula since I’ve used it with my daughter and I’m thinking it might be due to not getting milk coming in for a few days so I had no choice but to give him formula, but now even if I take breaks in between feeding him breastmilk to burp or try to mix breastmilk and formula, he spits it up sooo much. I’m ready to just give him just formula because I’m worried about him not eating enough

Do u consume dairy? Maybe he’s allergic that would definitely make sense! A lactation consultant or even his pediatrician is a good idea tho

yes! my dr actually has us mixing a little formula into my pumped breast milk to help keep it down. she didnt explain why, but she told us it was normal 😭

My little boy never had formula but he spat up sooo much during first 6 months until he started weaning. Its pretty normal and he was still getting enough milk even tho he would spit up after every feed

Could it be your baby is getting a fast flow of breast milk from the breast as opposed to slow from the bottle? Or getting more from the breast? If so, I’ve heard nipple shields can be useful but definitely see a lactation consultant. They’re so good, one was able to tell by my baby’s face and body language that one of my boobs had a really fast flow that was overwhelming my baby

I feel like you may have a fast milk flow and the teat on bottle is pretty slow? Xx

Only when I've eaten pizza which is so random but both my boys would be super unsettled, gassy, and throw up breast milk 1-2 days after I eat pizza!

My son was throwing up 40+ times a day until I cut out dairy, eggs and soy. My bestie is a lactation consultant and doula she had the same with her daughter and recommended the same and couldn’t believe my pediatrician didn’t recommend this as the first course of action.

My son never used formula but he spat up a crap load of milk. It was a combo of I ate eggs (which he was allergic to) and baby boy having acid reflux as a baby.
If you feel like a lactation consultant would help, go for it. They may have other tips and tricks to offer. It could be how your baby is latching on where he's sucking more air. The lactation consultant will definitely be able to watch and observe you to offer guidance.
Good luck. It's super frustrating. Breastfeeding isn't easy. I did it for 16 months! 😜 Feel free to ping me if you want, or not!
