Hi, My friend is pregnant and she has a turistic Visa and she has been told she doesn't have access to nhs services due to the Visa. Does anyone know what can be done for her to have access to care during her pregnancy?

I presume she would have to pay for the services?

Not to sound mean but if she has a tourist visa why would she need access to healthcare. Won’t she be at home when she has her baby? If I was on holiday I wouldn’t expect to get free care I would think any emergency care would need to be covered by my travel insurance? I hope your friend is ok. 👍🏻

agreed, unsure why she’s need it?
The NHS is paid for by taxpayers and national insurance contributions from our wages, if someone is in the uk only as a tourist then surely they aren’t contributing so shouldn’t get it for free..
If I went to another country and wasn’t contributing I wouldn’t assume I’d get free healthcare, I’d pay for it and claim it back through my travel insurance.

OP if she’s high risk and needs constant medical support then she really shouldn’t be travelling at all.
She can of course use services as a one off if on holiday but she’ll have to pay for it. When I travelled whilst pregnant I didn’t have appointments, scans or checkups overseas, I travelled low risk and when I wasn’t due any care. You can use your health insurance to reclaim costs but it sounds like your friend is expecting to stay here a while and get nhs care, that’s not what the service is for and it will cost her x
