Has anyone had excessive postpartum weight loss?! I am breastfeeding and I am now below my pre pregnancy weight. I have lost almost 50 pounds. I don’t have PPD/PPA and my thyroid levels were normal. Im getting scared because every time I step on the scale it’s lower and I look so skinny (not in a good way 🥲). I have always been thin and I am eating basically the same as I always have?? Any tips to increase my weight in a healthy way while breastfeeding?!

Try eating more calorie dense foods. Greek yogurt, nuts, avocados, dried fruits, protein bars, peanut butter and jelly. Mix dried peanut butter into pancakes, smoothies, muffins. Shoot for high protein and high calorie healthy ish foods. They will help with weight and breast milk production. Generally I takes 500 extra calories a day to breastfeed.

Definitely recommend adding protein shakes to ur daily eating habits. I also recommend eating 5 smaller meals a day instead of 3 big meals. Since we breastfeed throughout the whole day, our bodies need more readily available calories to take from. If you dont have it, it starts attacking th fat in our bodies, therefore losing weight.

Just found your post as I am now having the same problem. I have always eaten a healthy diet and even though I eat big portions now, I don't have time to eat as often as I would like and need. It also definitely didn't help that I had to cut out eggs, dairy, soy and gluten for a few weeks recently when my baby was poorly and I was trying to find out if she was reacting to something I was eating. And now I am super skinny and really trying to focus on eating more often and looking after myself better. I have ordered lots of nuts, nut butters and dried fruits and also trying to eat full fat yoghurts, avocados etc. 😊
