Hi, I'm living in Hitchin (renting) but considering buying a house in Fairfield Park (Stotfold). Can anyone share their experience of middle/secondary schools in Stotfold (Etonbury and Pixbrook in particular). Are they good, is there a school bus service from Fairfield? I'll need to apply for reception for my son in a year, but because we are buying we want to make sure the choices of secondary/middle schools is good and we are particularly worried about transport, as our work commute is towards London, so for school runs we woul need to go to Stotfold first, then to work. Also, anyone had any experience of getting their kids into a Hertfordshire school while living in Bedfordshire at the border? I know it's possible, just not sure if it can actually happen due to schools being oversubscribed/priorities. Thanks!

Hey, I’m on Fairfield so hopefully can add a bit! Stotfold schools are pretty well regarded but Pixbrook is new so not much available on academics yet. Etonbury was best GCSEs in the county last year I believe. There is a public bus that extends to Etonbury in the mornings that lots of the kids get, or cycle/walk. You won’t get into the Hitchin schools for high school but might Letchworth, but at the moment I don’t think they’re any better than Stotfold. Lots of Letchworth kids in Fairfield lower ironically. But things change. Mine goes to reception next year and am pretty relaxed about it all as it’s hard to see how things will be in 5 years time!
