Anyone got rid of their 24/7 nausea?

Howdy mums-to-be. I would love to hear from any mums a bit further along than me (I’m technically due 7th October) who had 24/7 nausea and sickness throughout the first trimester. I’m 13 weeks today and no better off- I’d love to hear from anyone who’s had it constantly bad and to hear if and when it eased. It’s been completely debilitating and I can’t help but fear it will last all pregnancy! I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel at this point and am basically confined to the sofa or my bed (and the toilet!) So would be amazing if anyone has experienced similar and then managed to get rid of it or have it significant ease off by 14/16 weeks. I need some hope please! 🤣

I’m 15.5 weeks and sadly can’t offer any hope, but I’ve found tricks that work 🫢

It sounds like Hyperemesis Gravidarum, I’m currently 22 weeks and have had it since week 6. The only thing which helped has been medicine, I’d recommend speaking with your GP. They should prescribe something to take away the nausea so you’re not bed bound 😓

glad yours has gone ❤️ Yes I’ve tried ginger biscuits, ginger tea, acu-pressure bands, you name it, but nothing touches it :( x

sorry to hear you’re still struggling with the nausea. I hope it eases for you soon 🤞 x

I have tried some anti-sickness tablets- Cyclizine, but they haven’t worked for me and I get some bad side effects to boot. My GP doesn’t seem to be worried about hyperemesis since I’m managing to keep enough food and liquid down, and urine isn’t showing keytones when they’ve tested a few times. Doesn’t stop it feeling completely debilitating with the nausea 24/7 though. :( May I ask which medicines have helped for you? If it continues to not improve, I think I’ll see if I can try something else. I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been suffering for so long throughout your pregnancy- it’s so hard isn’t it? I really empathise. xx

that’s exactly what happened with me! if it’s that bad and you’re working grab a sick note from your doctor. and also contact your midwife x

Hey! I am just about 18 weeks. I had awful 24/7 nausea from week 5 -15. I started meditation at week 6. I took two prescribed meds and gravol in between. I also bought the pregnancy pops from Amazon and had saltines with me always. And I mean always. I has a stash in my car, purse, work, beside the bed, in the bathroom and the kitchen. I tried to eat something every 90 minutes or so. Even if it was half a cracker. Week 15 it started to get better and now I'm just on one prescription. Honestly nothing made it 100% better but I went from bed/toilet ridden in week 5 to back to work fulltime and managing in week 6 with all of the things I mentioned above.

yeah it’s so difficult, I’m sorry for you too 🤍 You can definitely have hyperemesis without vomiting/dehydration, a lot of GPs are undertrained in this department so you really have to advocate for yourself. There’s a site called pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk - it has lots of useful tools which I used when I was first discovering everything. My nausea was exactly the same as yours, I was signed off work for months as I couldn’t do anything because of it. The medication you tried is only a first line treatment, there are more effective options your GP should consider given it hasn’t worked. I worked through 5/6 different ones before finding the right one for me which is called xonvea, and it honestly saved me from spiralling into depression from everything I was feeling. Hopefully it’ll be a much quicker journey into treatment for you.

I’m 16 weeks and as long as I take my B6 and unisom combo from my OB, the nausea is manageable.

I was the same I’m at 15 weeks+ now and was diagnosed with hyperemesis. The hospital got me taking ondansetron and maxalon and alternating them every 3 hours and always eat something half an hour after taking them. Some b6 and ginger too but I couldn’t handle so many pills so I stopped b6 and ginger. I’m vomiting less now so I think those meds and eating more are working but reflux is making me vomit sometimes. I had this awful symptom of excessive saliva which came from the nausea and vomiting too. I need to spit every 20 secs. It’s awful I hope you don’t have that. I don’t know what is worse nausea and vomiting or needing to spit almost 24/7 so I feel you. Hang in there, I am too!

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
