My baby is 2 weeks old and I have been breastfeeding since he was born but it hasn’t been easy at all. He has had difficulty latching, I had a c-section so have found it difficult to get him into a comfortable position for feeding. I also have quite large boobs which makes it difficult to see what’s going on when he’s feeding. Because of this, I started pumping about a week ago because he is ALWAYS hungry and I’m finding it seriously difficult to keep up with his demands so am now looking into pumping more frequently or exclusively pumping. I wondered if anyone could give advice on how often I should pump throughout the day please or just offer any advice if you are exclusively pumping too? Thanks

We’re on the same boat with the latching issues! 🥲 we have had multiple appointments with the lactation department but no luck… he still has troubles latching… and in the end we both just get frustrated… that’s why I have decided to exclusively pump. I follow most people’s advice of pumping every 2-3 hours… but at night it’s hard to keep up with that… almost impossible for me! I hope you find a routine that works for you! 🫶🏻

this is exactly how I feel. Both me and baby end up stressed/frustrated and upset and I just don’t want to do it anymore x

With me my baby latched perfectly after c section, day after she was born she got jaundice and issues with her blood levels so was too tired to latch so we had to use formula until hospital lent us a pump, since then I’m pumping and bottle feeding breast milk (no more formula now) I pump every time she feeds so 2-3 hours, I’m just managing to keep up with her with maybe 1-2 feeds over .. I’m setting alarms in the night to feed and pump, so only getting 2 hours sleep up for 2 and then 2 hours again .. very tiring but it’s so rewarding, I’m still trying to get her to latch every now and then but she has it too easy with a bottle now ha x

thank you, this is really helpful

As much as you can every 2 or 3 hours is recommended
