My baby will be 2 days old today and our first night at home hasn’t been great! We can settle him with a breast feed and he’s extra sleepy, tried to do a lights down, white noise, change routine for bed but only sleeps in bursts of like 10 minutes. Try to soothe whenever he wakes up in the Moses basket e.g shushing, stroking etc but unless being held just won’t go back to sleep. I know this is baby life and what do I expect but any help given is welcome me and my partner are SO tired. We had to do 2 hour turns last night just to get some sleep each

We’re week 6 now and she’s still not great at sleeping. My husband and I take shifts - I’m awake all night with baby and bf her. Then he takes over at 5 am and I get some sleep - he bottle feeds her while I get some hours in. She is getting better as of week 4/5 so it’s just little progress every day xx

This was us too, it gets easier. Our lo didn't want to be put down at all away from us for the first or second night or even in the day. We have a purflo sleep nest which he would settle in near us, so we used that with one of us awake - just so we weren't holding him. However just keep trying, we used a love to dream swaddle up and a swaddle bag, and that really helped to get him to settle in his next to me or moses. We're on day 6, and the improvement is huge. Xx

Thank you so much, I know it’s tough for them as it’s so new and you can’t blame them after being inside you all that time but mixed with no sleep it’s not great! I’d rather my partner get some sleep in the night as he is just so grouchy without any and I can have some sleep in the day then. Don’t want it to get us down or discourage us xx

The lack of sleep is a killer and it felt never ending on those first days. I'm sure we'll have lots of other issues to contend with too. Hope the sleep starts to settle for you x

We did shifts for the first week, your baby is so fresh and needs to be with you or your partner. Once our baby was used to the outside world I started to put him in the Moses in the day and now he sleeps in it at night xx

We had to take it in turns for the first week! The first two nights I was still in hospital and they don't let you sleep with baby, and I couldn't settle her anywhere other than on me, so after 39 hours labour and a traumatic birth, I then had to stay awake another 2 nights 😅 it does get easier, we're 3 weeks tomorrow and nothings been as hard as those first few days :)

We did shifts the first week too and stayed downstairs while the other slept, my husband 8pm - 1am then I did 1am onwards and then went back to bed about 9am for a couple of hours. She was sleeping in the moses basket downstairs but it felt like it was only for 45 mins at a time! It does get easier! Xx
