Potty training advice - I’m unsure if I’m doing the right thing!!

We just started today. Last few days he’s been having a few wees in his potty so thought I’d have a proper try today. I read on the nhs website to use training pants, but having looked at a few posts on here it seems others didn’t do that?! So far today he’s done two weeks in the potty, and a wee and a poo in his training pants, so it’s maybe not going that well 😂 I just keep reminding him that he needs to tell me if he needs a wee or a poo, that he has big boy pants on now and should go in the potty etc, and also suggesting he tries sitting on the potty to go about once an hour. I feel like I’m doing it wrong though and it’s not enough 🤔

We found the best way was 3 days naked waist down wees & poos on potty. Let them know where it is and if they start weeing (you’ll see their cues etc) take them to the potty. It’s the oh crap method, it’s actually very simple & I wouldn’t say you need to read the book.
Key for us is consistency- nappies only for bed time or naps. Language also around being a big girl, special big girl vests & pants

Amazing thank you. I’ve taken his training pants off now but leggings on as we are out in the garden. Hopefully he remembers to tell me when he needs to go 😅

We trained using what I read on the Eric website https://eric.org.uk
We skipped using pull ups mainly, I just felt they’d be too similar to a nappy- I gave him the option to wear one at nap time but after introducing pants he didn’t want to.
We went to the shop to choose big boy pants together, hyped up how special they were and we didn’t want them to get wet or dirty etc.
I also skipped the potty and we trained straight to the toilet, just personal preference, I didn’t want to have to add another step to training if he’d got the hang of the potty and then need to use the toilet- but at first this meant he wasn’t keen on using the travel potty in an emergency (he will happily use it now thankfully!) But did make using the toilet out and about easy.

We did the oh crap method, naked waist down first day, just leggings next day, but LO started holding in her poos and got constipated also refused the potty and toilet, would scream at the word, she was good with telling when she'd need to wee but would refuse to sit on both so it just became a battle l, if I had a garden I'd just let her run around. I've just backed off now and will try again next half term.

Yes, makes for first two days, then baggy joggers no pants for the next few days and then introduced pants following this. Apparently if they have pants on too early then they mis read signals. I think the first two weeks there can be a lot of errors. We learnt our daughter prefers the toilet rather than the potty too…so may be worth exploring that. It seemed to be easier for us to model the toilet too!
Oh Crap method have lots of tips online too. Like ‘pushing trousers’ down rather than ‘pulling’ as made more sense to little ones! It’s hard learning the ‘feeling’ and we did a lot of modelling that we were getting a ‘feeling’ so went to sit on the loo etc.
we also use the app ‘poo goes to pooland’ which is a nice story about pooing on the loo etc. don’t give up too soon! Def a tough parenting milestone!! The book I read said expect accidents over the first year! 90 make it 10 not!

We used pull ups to start and when accidents started to become more regular again (around day 5) we removed them completely. Worked well for us and was a gradual but fairly low stress process for us both! 🥰 never had an accident and been dry over night since!

After taking off his pull-ups and just doing trousers with nothing on under, he went 2.5 hours without a wee, then told me he needed to go and went on his potty! So i think going without the pull ups was a good shout 🤞🏼

Is this normal?

Is it just my husband that does this? He is able to work from home via his computer and in the mornings and evenings he is on there doing his job. When he is done for the day he tends to stay in the room and either play video games or watch something. He will occasionally come out and play with the girls for a few minutes and that’s it but when I really need him he says he is busy. My daughters are both 1 year old now and I am just wondering how much involvement should he have with them now?
Idk if this is the norm or not…..

5 month old activities

Hey everyone my baby is 5 months old and I want to reduce/cut screen time as I have read up on how bad it is what activities did people do to keep their baby entertained. Thank you in advance.

Tablet for kids

Alright don’t need any negative Nancy’s telling me not to get my 2yo a tablet so if that’s what your gunna do please don’t participate in my poll.

We’re about to move cross country 3+ day trip and my 2yo and 9m hate the car I’m talking scream their heads off till they are out of their seats. We’ve already changed car seats and it didn’t help so I’d like to at least have one entertained and sit next to baby and try and distract her or put her to sleep. Our new car has tvs but since they are rear faced my 2yo can’t see it.

Debating getting her a tablet or dvd player right now on long car rides I end up giving her my phone because I get so overwhelmed sitting in between both of them screaming and crying.

And yes I do bring different toys I bring snacks I play songs try to distract her other ways but for the sake of not losing my mind on this move I think this is best.

-A very overwhelmed and anxious to move mama 😓

My friend is over from another country but I don't feel like leaving the house

One of my old friend's is visiting where I currently live and we agreed to meet up today but I feel so tired and exhausted from everything that's been going on with me. I feel if I meet her I'm going to end up having another breakdown from the exhaustion which I have been having often. I'm just thinking about how I need to rest to be able to deal with my toddler and go back to work on Monday without feeling like I need another weekend. I'm torn on what to do so I need you guys to help me decide
