Hi all
How much colostrum did you manage to get when you first tried?

What weeks are you in now? You shouldn’t be collecting colostrum before 36 weeks. If you collect it too early it can cost early labour or contractions.
I did this last time when I was pregnant and due to GDM I was advised to collect at around 35 weeks. First time I try I got about a whole 1ml syringe. And get to about 2.5 ml a day before I gave birth. But I did it 4 times a day with a regular schedule. I ended up with a lunch bag full of syringes to take to hospital with me and the nurses there said they never seen so many before.

I wasn’t able to get any with my first. I didn’t understand how it just didn’t work for me! X

Once collected where do you store it?
I didn’t get much with my first but was told by the midwife research/ advice has changed and can collect now- I’m 30 weeks and started yesterday managed 0.3 ml
@kirsty pop it in the freezer

Have you asked your midwife where is this new advice coming from? As so far all the guidelines still say 36 weeks.
yeah we had a really in depth conversation about it. You can express if leaking naturally
@no not a problem at all. I didn’t get any colostrum with my first but breast fed for 12 months x

that is not a problem at all. Leaking is not an indication if you can breastfeed or not. Don’t worry about it.

Iv been leaking since 20 weeks a d started catching it if I see it dripping in bed too, I'm 32 weeks
